Hello, I’m Aarti Kala—an India Fellow working in Kalahandi, Odisha, with an organization dedicated to community health in some of the most underserved tribal villages.

For the past nine months, I’ve been living and working here, learning from the communities, and collaborating to improve health access. I’ve been inspired by the resilience and spirit of the people I meet every day.

As part of my 18-month fellowship, I’m preparing for the Travel Workshop—a two-week learning journey where we step out of our placements and into other contexts across the country. Along with other fellows, I’ll visit grassroots organizations, exchange experiences, and gain fresh perspectives to bring back to my work in Kalahandi. This is not just a trip—it’s an essential part of our growth as community leaders.

But we fund the entire journey ourselves—food, travel, accommodation, and logistics. That’s why I’m reaching out for your support.
