Support MyTree - Satsang Foundation’s Tree Plantation & Conservation initiative

MyTree is inspired by the Sanskrit word – Maitri – meaning amity. Amity conforms to the concept of Manav Ekta (oneness of humanity) propounded by Sri M, the founder of The Satsang Foundation. By encouraging an individual/community-led partnership to plant trees, a natural human alliance will be formed to ensure a sustainable relationship with nature.

MyTree involves schools and colleges, residential groups, corporates as well as private and government entities in planting indigenous trees in high-survival-rate projects, from low to very high-density plantation, as well as in creation and preservation of support ecosystems (such as grasslands).

Key projects undertaken till date:

●     Creation of Urban Dense Forests: As one instance, The Satsang Foundation (TSF), in partnership with other organizations, launched a plantation project at Indian Maritime University in Chennai, and planted 15,000 native saplings to create a dense, self-sustaining urban forest. The project, part of TSF's larger initiative to create "Urban Dense Forests", involves planting native species to rapidly increase green cover, purify air, lower temperatures and improve local ecology overall, and more such projects have been undertaken in different locations across cities.

●     Plantation Drives: Plantation of saplings of local tree species have been organized near residential neighborhoods, public places and industrial areas in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, The Sacred Grove at Chowdepalle, Coimbatore, Delhi, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Madanapalle, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Pune and The Peepal Grove School at Sadum, Andhra Pradesh.

●     Each One, Plant Two Movement: This movement encourages the planting of saplings in an individual capacity, nurturing and caring for them in the spirit of Maitri – friendship with Nature.

●     MyTree Academy Workshops: These workshops are being carried out in schools by trained MyTree volunteers to sensitize them to blossom into environmental stewards. Saplings are being given to students to nurture, until they are ready to be transplanted.

●     I Grow My Greens: Seed packets have been distributed for 23 different plants and trees that have essential nutritional value, are of native varieties contributing to the biodiversity of the specific geographical location, and are easy to grow with little maintenance.
