Story

For over 20 years, the Camel Welfare Project by Help In Suffering (HIS), Jaipur, has been a lifeline for thousands of camels — and the communities that depend on them.

Once revered as the “ships of the desert,” camels in India now face a silent crisis: a shrinking population, worsening health, and increasing abandonment. Many are overworked, injured, or abandoned when no longer economically viable.

But there is hope. With your support, HIS continues to deliver compassionate, species-specific care to camels across Rajasthan — reaching remote villages, deserts, and crowded camel fairs where no other help exists.

Donate easily through UPI, all debit/credit cards and net banking.

Charitable donations to this fundraising campaign are tax exempted under 80G of the Income Tax Act (India).

What your donation supports:

Treatment & Care - helps injured and sick camels across rural and urban Jaipur

Education for camel owners — visual and bilingual resources, puppet shows, and training to ensure better treatment and long-term care

Humane Education - instill values of compassion, tolerance and coexistence in the next generation

20 Years of Impact at HIS

1,22,000+ camels treated

16,863 camel carts made road-safe with reflectors

35,542 camels dewormed

16,655 harmful nose pegs replaced

~5,000 people reached annually — including 1,000+ camel-owning families

Only 2 road accidents recorded since the reflector programme began

Why we need your help now:

With rising costs and growing need, the Camel Welfare Project of HIS (supported by the India Animal Fund) is seeking public support to keep its programmes running.

Together, we can keep these gentle giants safe, healthy, and treated with dignity — while supporting the marginalised communities who rely on them.

Be a lifeline for Rajasthan’s camels.
