Story

Sparsh Fellowship places local youth in government schools to rebuild human connection, strengthen foundational learning, and nurture confident, community rooted children and leaders.

Sparsh Fellowship is a three year, community rooted program being implemented in government primary schools in Mau, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, where local youth from within a 5 km radius are placed as fellows. In many such schools, while enrollment is high, learning remains rote and transactional, and children often grow up without confidence, expression, or a sense of emotional safety due to the absence of consistent, caring adult relationships. This lack of meaningful human connection Sparsh manifests in low self-worth, behavioral challenges, and limited aspirations. The fellowship addresses this gap by placing trained local youth inside classrooms to support foundational learning while also building safe, trusting relationships with children, facilitating expression, and nurturing values and life skills. At the same time, these fellows undergo a structured journey of personal and professional growth, emerging as confident, employable, and community rooted leaders. By 2030, we aim to build a pipeline of 150 such youth leaders (60% girls), implement the model across 25 government schools, and positively impact over 5,000 children. The cost of supporting one fellow ranges from ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 per month, and approximately ₹3 lakhs annually can sustain a school, a village with one fellow. We are raising funds for 10 fellows and seeking partners who can support individual fellows, entire schools, or long term program growth. This initiative is not just about improving learning outcomes, but about ensuring that every child experiences trust, belonging, and the possibility of becoming, while enabling youth from the same community to lead that change.
