Support the rehabilitation of underprivileged children

The trauma and difficulties faced by the street children are alarming day-by-day in Bangalore. There are thousands of aimless children on streets engaged in rag picking and stealing etc. Due to lack of parental supervision, they end up indulging in such activities and have no motivation for studying. Children are most vulnerable as they are easy victims of abuse and inhuman treatment. They often land up doing petty theft or prostitution for economic survival and spend on drug abuse, gambling, drinking etc. Having no shelter, they have no respite from heat, cold and rain. This poses a grave risk to them and ultimately their lives end on streets.

We found that most of the children had run away from home multiple times or were orphans or were children from broken families. For these children it was difficult to reunite with the parents. Hence to support them, we started two residential centres: Lakshya Udaan Home and Sneh Ghar. Both the centres are functioning in the Govt. Schools at Siddhapura and Shanthinagar, Bangalore. There are more than 85 children in both the centres. We provide counseling, shelter, food, health, recreation and education to the children. After bringing them at par with other children, the children are admitted in the formal schools.

We dedicatedly aim at creating a strong foundation for these children. Many of our children are performing well academically. Along with studies, they are also building competence and skills according to their interests. There is a positive change in behaviour and attitude of these children as they have completely given up bad- habits. Also, the community is now sensitized about parental care and supervision. We can provide an enlightening path to many more children, only with your support.
