My name is Rajendra Singh Deora.
I live in Sirohi, Rajasthan. Since 2022, I have been working as a Panchayat Teacher (contractual employee) under the Elementary Education Department of Rajasthan. I am also a social worker and have been actively involved in promoting environmental causes, girls' education, helping the underprivileged, and encouraging organ donation.
Sports have always been my passion. During my school years, volleyball and football were my favourite games. I represented my district several times in volleyball, became a regional champion many times in cricket, and even got the opportunity to play football at the national level. I have also been working to promote sports in rural areas.
Since sports have always been my passion, I dreamed of building a career in government service alongside sports. However, my life took an unexpected turn when I was first diagnosed with kidney failure. I began to feel weak and helpless. During this time, I started consulting different hospitals. Following doctors' advice, I took medication for two continuous years, but eventually, both my kidneys failed.
Due to physical weakness and health complications, I had to be hospitalised for 11 continuous months and undergo dialysis during that period. With the support of my friends, relatives, and family, I underwent a kidney transplant in July 2017 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. My father donated his kidney to me, giving me a new lease on life. I am forever grateful to the many people who supported me during this time. I found a new hope and strength to live.
To keep myself physically and mentally healthy, I reignited my passion for sports. I incorporated walking, long forest trekking, yoga, cycling, and other sports activities into my daily life. For the past three years, I have been participating in the National Transplant Games held in Mumbai and even won a silver medal at the national level in athletics last year.
Along with sports, I have also been working to raise awareness about kidney disease and organ donation. So far, I have helped five people become organ donors. Due to my excellent performance in sports, I recently received training at IIT Delhi and Manav Rachna University, Faridabad.
Most recently, I have been blessed with an incredible opportunity — I have been selected as a member of the Indian team for the World Transplant Games, to be held in Germany in August 2025. This is both a moment of pride and a significant challenge for me. It will give me a golden opportunity to showcase my athletic skills on an international platform. I am working very hard in preparation for it. In Germany, I will be participating in various athletic events, including volleyball and football.
I want to win medals for my country, India. For me, this opportunity is not just about participating in a sporting event — it is much more. It is a second chance at life, a chance to live and prove myself.
In this journey of falling down and rising again, I humbly request all friends, well-wishers, and sports lovers to support me in making this dream come true. Your support will provide strength and encouragement to other youth battling serious illnesses like kidney failure. Your invaluable contribution will not only help me live a new life but will also give me the energy and courage to fulfil my dreams.
Thank you.
