Supporting people with special needs at Vasantham

Despite the increased incidence of developmental disorders such as intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, learning disability, cerebral palsy and multiple disability, professional services available are limited. Further, acceptance by family and society is also a challenge.

Vasantham provides professional support to these individuals through special education, communication therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pre-vocational training, vocational training, yoga, dance, play and music therapies. Children and adults with special needs at Vasantham function with individualized programme plan, designed to strengthen their abilities and function as independent as possible. This is done through multidisciplinary team working in collaboration with the family.

Over 30 years, Vasantham has empowered thousands of individuals with special needs and their families. This individualised programme for individuals with special needs will continue to support approximately 134 children and adults at Vasantham to function as independently as possible. 

Further, Vasantham's awareness activities will continue sensitizing general public about developmental disorders.
