Sustainable education for rural Children studying in our school by providing Educational support and Empowering the women.

In India education is still a distant dream for millions of children and in our area too. Our target area Villupuram district comes under the Tamilnadu state. In this district, the majority of the people depend on agriculture and agricultural occupation for their income. But India’s agriculture is dependent on rain too much, and in the absence of adequate irrigation facilities, as much as 70% of the cultivation in our area looks to rain for water supply. But rains in India are inadequate, uncertain and irregular. Hence, this makes agriculture an uncertain occupation. The rains keep our target district drought for a decade.

People don’t have other opportunities and they suffer a lot with their big families. So in nature, education in these communities has remained beyond the reach of their children. Poverty, family illiteracy, lack of resources and social backwardness are the major contributing factors. In our area, nothing has been done for the improvement and upliftment of the poor Community. So the majority of the people in our target area are backward socially, educationally and economically. So our area people are living in most miserable conditions devoid of essential facilities of life especially they don’t have much education due to the absence of any support system. So, our target area’s illiterate, poverty-ridden Tribal and rural Dalit poor parents do not wish to educate their children, because they think that investment in education for their children is considered a mere waste of time and resources and most worrisome is girls' education. 

Due to all the above reasons, they are unceremoniously denied the opportunity to get basic knowledge and literacy skills. The majority of our area's Tribal and Dalit children were out of school or working/helping their parents in domestic work/agricultural fields. So, we wish to give education through Door Step School (school on the wheel). It attempts to take education to Out-of-School children who dwell on the very fringes of society, so as to remove/solve the existing problems

PLAN OF ACTION:

We have constructed a school for poor Dalit and tribal children in Paravour village, Vannur Taluk, Villupuram district. Tamil Nadu, South India, with the support of M/s Lotus Flower Trust, U.K. We have constructed a school of 10000 sqft with 14 classrooms and one small office room. We are operating the school since the academic year June 2016. Now we have 150 children, and most of the parents are willing to send their children to our school.

Aims and Objective of the Project:

Ø To improve the literacy rate among Dalit and Tribal children

 Ø  To identify, mobilize and enrol all the eligible children in the school at the beginning of the academic year.

Ø  To initiate the community to advocate for tribal and Dalit girls to have access to education.

Ø  To increase the access of Tribal and Dalit children to education.

Ø  To change the life condition of poor tribal and Dalit children through education.

Ø Enter into the bright future for Dalit and tribal children.

Ø  To improve the hygiene in and near the schools

The long-term output: The educational status of Tribal and Dalit children to be improved.

Short-term outputs:

Ø Tribal and Dalit children enrolled in the school.

Ø The awareness of the community to encourage and support the Tribal and Dalit children increased.

Ø Providing milking goats/milk animals for each child's family for generating income and utilising the money for their children's education.
