I’ve spent years working in rural Karnataka, and one truth remains: a child in a village in Raichur is just as smart and ambitious as any child in a city. The only thing missing is a bridge to the modern world.
Without English communication and life skills, these bright minds hit a wall. They feel invisible in the formal economy. At Pravikshya Education Foundation, we are breaking that wall. Our Skills in Village (SiV) program gives students in Grades 5–8 the tools they need to speak with confidence and dream beyond their village borders.
Why we need you today: We are a small, focused team working directly on the ground. We don’t have massive overheads—we have a massive mission. Every rupee you contribute goes directly to a classroom:
- ₹1,000 provides a student with all their learning materials for an entire year.
- ₹8,000 supports a local trainer who mentors these children every per month.
- Any amount helps us reach the hundreds of students currently on our waiting list.
The Impact: We aren't just teaching ABCs. We are building the next generation of changemakers. When a rural child speaks English with confidence, their entire world expands.

Skill in Village (SiV) — Education Programme
We run after-school learning centres inside government schools for students in Grades 5 to 8. Each student receives 200 hours of structured instruction in English communication (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) and life skills—delivered by Community Resource Persons (CRPs), young people trained from within the same communities they serve. This is deliberate: a familiar face, a shared background, and someone who walked the same path removes the distance that formal instruction often creates.
SiV is a proven model, originally pioneered by the Deshpande Educational Trust. It has grown from 1 centre in 2017 to 200 centres in 2024, reaching over 16,000 students. The evidence is clear: a 15.75% improvement in English language skills and a 7% increase in life skills scores. Our focus on Grades 5–8 is strategic—this is the window to prevent pre-matriculation dropouts and set students up to perform in the critical Grade 10 and PUC examinations that open doors to professional courses.
We work closely with school HM, teachers, parents, and School Management Committees. The goal is not a parallel system—it is to strengthen the one that already exists.
