Support workshops for public libraries in Karnataka!

Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) would like to take three specific exhibition-based learning resources to libraries across the state: an Exhibition-in-a-Box, Activity Handbook and online Open-courseware. The workshops will be held in English and Kannada to prepare staff from public libraries to use these tools for informal learning of science. Such interactive activities will make libraries more dynamic and take world class learning outside the classroom and to those underserved by current resources and opportunities.

We ran a pilot programme with three workshops attended by 180 participants from public libraries across all thirty one districts of Karnataka.

We have entered a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR), Government of Karnataka "to connect public libraries in Karnataka with SGB's Learning Programmes and materials."

Karnataka has around 6000 public libraries. The cost for reaching one librarian is approximately INR 1000, hence the modest goal of raising INR 5,00,000 to reach at least 500 libraries across the state to begin with. Your contribution will enable us to bring new ways of learning and discovery to rural and peri-urban communities across Karnataka.
