Help me raise money to support an underprivileged child

Here at Ashwini, we provide preventive and curative health care to tribal populations of over 25,000 in Gudalur and Pandalur valley, Tamil Nadu. We cater to over 200 villages in the remote hilly areas with community health programmes, regular health check-ups in schools, and provide medical facilities.

When we started our work here over 20 years ago, health care conditions were pitiable. There were no hospitals and every year people died from easily treatable diseases like diarrhea and malaria. They also struggled with land usurpation due to urbanisation, expanding tea estates, and no supportive government policies.

We focus on child and maternal health care and encourage community participation to ensure our programmes can reach as many people as possible.

We also run a 20-bed Gudalur Adivasi Hospital, including eight sub-centres, to ensure every tribal as well as non-tribal patient in remote regions of Gudalur receive medical help in time. In 2012 alone, over 20,000 patients were able to take advantage of our facilities.
