About the Beneficiary Organisation

Uninhibited is an Indian non-profit organisation that works with adolescent girls by creating safe spaces to destigmatise menstruation for building shame resilience, and equipping necessary transferable life skills to access equal opportunities and make informed choices around their body & menstrual health. 

We sensitise mothers, teachers and adolescent boys to support girls in making decisions and creating a positive socio-cultural environment around menstruation. We use our replicable & scalable behaviour change model, Periodshala, and leverage technology to address the capacity gaps in the system. We have impacted more than 387,000 girls and allies in 10 states and 22 districts with the support of 40+ partners in India, since 2016. 

Currently, we are specifically working in the rural and tribal districts of Jhabua, Jamui, Palghar and urban Bangalore, these states are home to nearly 30% of India's vulnerable girls. Our mission is to impact 1 million girls and allies in the next 3 years, contributing towards SDG 3, 5 and 6.2.
