Story

Education for women is a high-return investment in socio-economic development for society as a whole. As there is a quote, ‘’If a man is educated, he alone will be educated, but if a woman is educated, the entire family will be educated.’’ women occupy 50% of the population but the growth rate of women in all fields is comparatively less in spite of a lot of efforts made to improve the conditions of girls’ education. Special schemes have been formulated for the welfare of women’s education. More funds were allocated to the national five-year plan. They struggle a lot to enter to work on par with men, particularly in the field of education.

Most of the women learners are first-generation learners in the family. It is highly observed in the districts like Bellary which have been declared as educationally backward districts by the government. Jwalathi rural development society comprises these four districts. So it is an immense need to help the students of this district in many ways. The first and foremost thing is to identify the difficulties and areas that have been considered as barriers for first-generation women learners. The social setup has created many barriers for first-generation women learners of higher education. The main aim of this study is to help first-generation women learners to overcome the barriers which form hurdles in their life and to lead successful lives.

By providing the capacity building and training programme, the first generation of women learners will become confident that they can pursue their higher education without any fear or conflict. The motivation and achievement level of first-generation women learners may reach its peak, which in turn reflects on the development of the nation. They may be the role model to many other women learners in turn the future may bloom full of highly educated females sector in society. This helps the development of India in all aspects.

Since JWALATHI RURAL DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY comprises the four backward districts in the field of education namely  Bellary, it is our circumscribed duty to help women who belong to first generation and the students are first identified and capacity building and training programmes are planned to implement with the help of resource persons.

After this programme, the first-generation women learners will become

·       Highly equipped with soft skills

·       Achievement and action-oriented

·       Exposed to their rights and privileges

·       Strong in facing challenges and problems

·       Academically proficient

·       Successful in searching for their careers/profession
