Nakshatra, our annual inter-shelter home talent festival, is designed to provide underprivileged children with a platform to showcase their abilities in arts, literature, and culture. This festival is more than just an event; it is a celebration of creativity, self-confidence, and community.

The Challenge

Children in shelter homes often have limited opportunities to interact with their peers and explore their talents. This lack of exposure can hinder their holistic development and affect their self-esteem. Nakshatra aims to bridge this gap by creating an inclusive environment where children can learn, lead, and thrive.

Our Solution

Nakshatra is a vibrant festival that brings together children from various shelter homes across India. Through activities like rangoli, sketching, painting, creative writing, extempore, quiz competitions, group dance, and singing, we encourage children to discover and showcase their hidden talents. By fostering a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie, Nakshatra helps improve their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Impact

In 2022-2023, Nakshatra Bangalore saw participation from over 700 children from 30+ shelter homes, supported by 250+ volunteers. Across India, the festival has touched the lives of over 6,785 children, involving 1,600+ volunteers in 8 cities. The smiles and joy experienced by these children are testaments to the festival's success.
