Vishal Cycles for Girls' Education as part of Umeed 1000 Cyclothon

Vishal has been cycling for the past 4 years, and has already covered around 4500 kilometres on his bike. He feels that it is vey important to make fitness a part of one's life. He says that it is the noble cause of cycling which first inspired him to take up cycling and he has never looked back since then.

Vishal Phadnis feels that it is important to give back to the society in whichever possible. The unique concept of Umeed 1000 Cyclothon which brings together cycling and social work together has provided him with an opportunity to do his bit for the people of our country. Raising funds for the education of girl children has added meaning to his own life.

This year, Vishal is cycling for Udbhav School, which focuses on Providing holistic English medium education to low income group girl children in urban slums in Hyderabad. IIMA Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter Charitable Trust took over the school (facing imminent closure) located in Rasoolpura, a slum area of Hyderabad, designated as a notified slum by the government in April, 2013. The IIMA alumni are spurred by the vision that all children should have the same opportunities. The school was renamed as “Udbhav School” by IIMAAA Hyderabad Chapter Charitable trust. Therefore, the Udbhav management is committed to providing the Udbhav children opportunities and education for their all round growth and development. Their vision is to transform the lives of at least 10,000 underprivileged children and their families by 2025.
