Campaign by Sehgal Foundation
Talab village in Alwar district in Rajasthan, India, struggles for water security. Agriculture is the only income in this remote region. Lack of water availability means low agricultural productivity, which leads to greater poverty in the region and causes personal suffering, especially to women and children.
Small, durable water harvesting structures such as check dams improve groundwater levels, water quality, and community self-reliance over time.
With donor support, Sehgal Foundation builds rainwater harvesting structures in dry villages. With the use of existing hand pumps, open wells, and tube wells, water harvested by check dams is used for drinking, agriculture, and domestic purposes. This project will benefit 200 farm households in a once-dry village.
