In 2017, in a small park in Bhubaneswar, 8-year-old Truptimayee fell—again. She was weak. Unseen. Unheard.
When Shweta, the founder, visited her home, her mother, tired and pregnant again, softly smiled and said: “Teen ladkiyon ke baad, phir ladki hui toh?”
The words carried an unspoken truth we keep ignoring— Children in underserved communities are born into conditions that end their dreams before they begin.
In Odisha, 49.9% of students drop out after Class 10 (Source: UDISE+, 2022-23). The highest in India. Yet, they remain: Unseen. Unsafe. Unserved. Is it fair?

This educational crisis was reiterated by a 2022 Unmukt Foundation survey of nearly 600 children, revealing the following:
These aren’t just numbers. They are warning signs—of a society that is failing children because of the conditions they are born into.
We believe every child is full of potential and deserves an equal opportunity, a fair start to rise—not in spite of their background, but because someone believed in them.
Unmukt works in schools and communities to provide joyful, quality education through our flagship PEACE model (Physical, Emotional, Academic, Creative development, and Environmental action) based on National Educational Policy (NEP) 2024 — to bridge learning gaps and foster all round development.
This year, we’re working with 3,000+ children through following programs:
Remember Trupti from 2017? She kept falling. But she kept rising. We walked with her—in school, after school, in her life.
In 2023, she was selected from over 5,000 children for Odisha’s Talent Scout Program, and received an all-rounder award in her school. Today, she trains in international Judo and dreams of representing India one day in the Olympics, and becoming an Army Major. Because one girl rose, hundreds are rising.
Our impact in 8 years,
Children are becoming first-generation coders, artists, athletes, dancers, and robot-makers.
To reinforce our programs, a la Dr. S Radhakrishnan “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”, this year, we plan to pilot the Freedom Fellowship—to find, develop, and support youth to become inspiring role models who teach and lead with love. In the long run, we envision transforming the educational ecosystem.
You can stop 500 children from dropping out this year. Here’s how:
Here’s a cost breakdown of our programs:
Every ₹1,000 bridges not just learning gaps, but unlocks their limitless potential.
