Women Farmers

Women farmers constitute 76% of all women workers in India. Involved in agriculture and providing food security for households and nation, they remain not only among the most malnourished but also invisible in the statistics. Reaching support to women farmers for seeds and agro ecological practices has been the priority for ANANDI to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on their livelihoods. However the due to incessant rainfall in Dahod , Panchmahaal and Morbi districts of Gujarat massive crop failure has led to further setback to already struggling small and marginalized women farmers. Leaving them with empty grain banks at home, large debts and a sense of hopelessness.

Through our continued efforts to reduce the impact of pandemic -related lockdown and agricultural damaged caused due to heavy seasonal rain on the most marginalized populations , we would like to reach out to 1000 of the worst affected women farmers in Rural Gujarat with support for agriculture of Rs 1500 each for the upcoming Rabi season.

This support would ensure that small and marginal women farmers from rural and tribal districts of Gujarat are able to build resilience against the devastating impact of COVID pandemic and by the crop failure of the Kharif season . Collective banks of small mechanical tools will reduce women's drudgery in agricultural operations and the Rabbi seasons input will ensure food and nutrition security to farmer household for four to six months.
