" "Your generous donation today can help restore the rights and dignity of these children, opening the door to a future filled with hope and opportunities. Let your support be the guiding light that nurtures their educational growth and empowers their mental and personal development."
In Bihar, the lives of thousands of homeless and marginalized children are filled with severe hardships and struggles. The state has approximately 34.3 million children, of which 10-15% are orphaned and homeless. For these children, issues like malnutrition, physical and mental abuse, and hunger have become common problems.
The rate of malnutrition in Bihar is critical, with about 48% of children aged 0-5 suffering from stunting, while the rate of underweight children is around 20%. Additionally, the number of children experiencing mental health issues has reached 9-10%, but access to mental health services remains extremely limited. The educational dropout rates are also concerning, with 25% at the primary level and approximately 40% at the secondary level. This indicates that millions of children are being deprived of education.
Many children face dangers such as child trafficking and sexual exploitation. In 2023, over 500 cases of sexual abuse were reported, highlighting the precarious situation of children. Numerous children are being forced into begging and are becoming addicted to drugs. Approximately 1,200 children confined in orphanages are also surrounded by exploitation and insecurity. These circumstances have cast a shadow over the bright future of these children.
The Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) has been dedicated to bringing about change in these children's lives for the past 30 years. The committee strives for the educational, mental, and personality development of orphaned children. Its goal is to integrate these children into the mainstream of society and provide them with a life of dignity.
Why the Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) ?
Thousands of destitute children are deprived of their basic rights due to poverty and injustice. Many of these children have lost their parents and face dire situations such as hunger, child labor, and sexual exploitation. Such children become completely isolated from society and fall prey to antisocial elements.
These marginalized children lack even the minimum facilities for education and healthcare. The continuous neglect of children's rights has pushed them into a deep darkness from which there seems to be no way out.
The Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) believes that every child has the right to education, nutrition, and safety. The committee is working to improve the mental and behavioral development of these children.
