The concern is that education in government schools is of very poor quality. We want to improve the quality of education for the needy children studying in these schools, to help them in further studies, reduce dropouts and assist them in their future career prospects. Underserved children have suffered immensely during Covid and have mostly fallen back by two grades because they did not have the means to study through online education. A lot of effort is required to pull them up to their grade level and therefore teaching them English and Maths, the 2 most critical subjects, becomes extremely important.

We are teaching them skills like Robotics and teaching the school syllabus through storytelling pedagogy. This pedagogy is taught through computers, where each child has a computer to learn on in class. This project is being done along with the NGO Katha in municipal schools in South Delhi. These schools are located in slum areas and we want to help these underserved children, to enable them able to compete with kids in private schools. We have also adopted 5 schools in rural Faridabad, where we are focusing on enhancing the English and Maths skills of children. If children pick up English reading and writing skills, they will have a brighter future. The project in Faridabad is being done with the full blessings of the Haryana Government and the dynamic and young organisation Varitra foundation, which has done significant work in this field in rural Karnal, Haryana. The R N Malhotra & Anna R Malhotra Charitable Trust is almost entirely funding the rural project.

We want these children to get a strong foundation in critical subjects, be prepared for the future and make more confident individuals. We want to give the same education opportunities that children from well-heeled communities get. So far, our focus is only on education and we would like to increase the number of schools that we can adopt. In primary schools in rural Faridabad. Primary school children struggle to even understand the sounds of each alphabet, so the task is really uphill and a lot of effort is required to change the lives of these children, for a better future, which is what the Trust is trying to do.
