Kiki, a young monkey, was orphaned when his mother was electrocuted. While wandering alone in search of safety, he was attacked by stray dogs and left with a badly injured nose.

The rescue team reached him just in time. At the shelter he received urgent medical care, nutritious food and round-the-clock attention to help him recover from both injury and fear.

Over the months his wounds healed and the fear in his eyes slowly gave way to trust. He also learned the skills he needed to survive on his own.

After 18 months of rehabilitation, Kiki was released back into the wild, healthy and free.

The SHEOWS rescue team found Mr. Harilal, 62, lying helpless on a roadside in Lajpat Nagar. He had been abandoned, with severely swollen legs, infected wounds and difficulty breathing, and he couldn't stand or walk.

At the SHEOWS shelter home he was treated for COPD, severe infections and malnutrition. He also received nutritious meals, physiotherapy and compassionate care.

Slowly his swelling went down, his wounds healed and his strength returned. Physiotherapy took him from bedridden to walking on his own.

Today Mr. Harilal is medically stable and lives comfortably at the SHEOWS home, safe, cared for and no longer alone.

Ranjita (name changed) is a 10-year-old girl from Kolkata's Topsia slum. Because her family couldn't afford it, she dropped out of school after Class III and spent her days helping her mother sort waste.

Turnstone Global counselled her parents and, with support from the give.do monthly mission, enrolled her in a nearby government school. She also received textbooks, stationery and remedial tuition.

Today Ranjita is a confident Class IV student who dreams of becoming a dancer. She attends regularly, does well in class and performs at school events.

She now encourages other girls in her community to return to school, and her parents, once unsure about education, proudly back her dreams.

"One day I want to be a dancer, and I want all the girls in my area to go to school like me."
