For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. All the members of Governing Body of ABHINAV SAMAJ are retired Government Officers/Business people and from well to do families. Trust was formed to serve society on the basis of personal experiences of all the members. Since inception as on 07.04.2010 we are working for the rehabilitation and welfare of destitute elderly. We are running ‘Jai Ma Durga Old-Age Home’ at C-147, Uday Vihar, Nilothi Extn., Chander Vihar, New Delhi-110041 (INDIA) where we are providing free shelter, food, medical-facilities and all other basic needs required to elderly free of cost. In ‘Jai Ma Durga Old-Age Home, there is capacity of 25 inmates.Now we have established one more old-age home under name ‘Abhinav Shanti Sewa Sadan’ at A-3, Indira Park, Near Sai Mandir, Najafgarh, New Delhi-110043. This old-age home have capacity to accommodate 50 inmates and 60 more elderly visits during day time for day-care facility in which provide them with free food, Physiotherapy and councelling.In our new old-age home ‘Abhinav Shanti Sewa Sadan’ we provide Palliative-care and Hospice-care too for elderly.We performs regular health-check ups of all the inmates in our old-age homes. In case of their death we performs their last rituals according to their religion as there are many people whose children refused to accept them even after their death just to save the money to be spent on last rituals of their parents. In addition to this we are providing shelter to destitute children and provide them all facilities for education and shelter.People from both rich and poor class are effected by this crisis in current times of micro-families. However rich have sources to sustain but the poor have nothing to survive and even have to die with hunger on roads. This problem is very common these days. Anyone among us can suffer this problem any time. I the Settler of this Trust have faced the problem and many of my friends too. Being a retired senior government officer, before my retirement I have myself seen many such cases in official capacity also. Seeing such incidents we all members of governing-body of ABHINAV SAMAJ decided to work for the welfare and rehabilitation of destitute elderly. In addition to this we regularly arranges free medical-camps on monthly basis for different diseases i.e. heart-diseases, dental, eyes, psychiatric diseases for under-privilige people.During CORONA crisis our volunteers have been working day and night to help CORONA effected families by providing them ready to eat meals, medicines, filling of oxygen cylinders, providing them PPE kits, nebulizers, oxymeters etc. free of any cost. In case of death of CORONA effected patients our volunteers helped them to complete their last rituals in crematoriums. Since even their own family members refuses to even touch them and to chase them to crematoriums our volunteers have been always ready to help them to carry their bodies from hospitals to crematoriums, bookings in crematoriums and complete their last rituals irrelevant to caste, creed and religion. We at ABHINAV SAMAJ has adopted such 100 families who have lost their earning members dur to COVID, providing them Food-Packets, Grocery-Kits, Financial assistance and councelling too.Cost of one Grocery-Kit costs approximately INR 3000 (USD 50).In addition to it we help studying students in such families to continue their education by providing them books, stationer and other required study materials etc.In addition to above we are distributing books and study materials to primary class to Class-VIII students in slums/JJ colonies of Delhi/NCR. Children in such colonies have no access to electronic gadgets to learn. Their only source of learning is books and other study materials. Our volunteers educationists provide them classes on weekends.Since spread of CORONA w.e.f. 15.05.2020 to present we have distributed 80,412 packets of grocery-kits, 4,65,181 packets of ready-to-eat food packets, 3,15,217 masks, 42,620 bottles of sanitizers, 41,010 Nos. of Dettol soap, books and other study materials to 8,865 students in different slums/JJ colonies i.e. Kali Basti (Uttam Nagar), JJ Colony Blocak-A1, Uttam Nagar, JJ Colony Blocak-A2, Uttam Nagar, JJ Colony Kakrola, JJ Colony Khayala, JJ Colony Hastsal, JJ Colony Raghubir Nagar (all the above colonies in Delhi).Further we have got a big piece of land (25 bighas) in Chakrata, Distt.Dehradun in Uttrakhand state in INDIA to construct a big old-age home and orphanage there consisting of approximately 100 rooms. Out of which 80 rooms shall be used for elderly (six inmates shall be accommodated in each room) and fifteen rooms shall be used for orphanage where appropriate street/homeless children shall be accommodated. Remaining rooms shall be used for other uses i.e. Medical-Dispensary, Recreation-Room, General Meeting and Dining Room etc. We feels destitute elderly and homeless children have perfect match to ful-fil each other’s sentiments. We aims to provide world-class environment and facilities to all destitute elderly and homeless children.In addition to it we are developing Agro-Eco Tourism system too there for elderly.The entire land is donated to us by a local farmer of Uttrakhand who is now a part of our Governing Body.At present your donations are very precious for us to maintain our primary mission to maintain our old-age homes and to maintain our activities for relief to CORONA victims.  Last year we admitted 118 inmates in our Free Old-Age Home mostly left away by their own children. Out of which nearly 72 dead due to different diseases and 14 accepted back by their children after councelling.

Contribute towards Free Old-Age Home for elderly destitute parents

In current times everyone is experiencing a very unique &amp; unprecedented situation due to the COVID around the world since March 2020. However, India is gearing up from lockdown, the impacts of the pandemic are going to be greater than what we can see or imagine. However, now unlocking process has been started but still atmosphere is not favourable for under-privilige. Millions of daily wage earners, hawkers, street vendors and other un-organised sector people are the one who are worst affected. Many under provilige families has their lost their young earning family members during second wave of CORONA.Still they have no source of income. They are usually the most vulnerable and the first to be laid off in such downturn events. Due to no cash flows or enough savings it is difficult for them to sustain even for a few months since they have no jobs, no work and no source to earn livelihood. This is an opportunity for non-profits to prove their mettle and create an ecosystem of collaboration and support. We at ABHINAV SAMAJ are working for this cause to our best. 
 It is very important to provide food and medical-aid and to motivate this under-priviliged class of society on humanitarian grounds too to help them to sustain. We at ABHINAV SAMAJ provide them Free Food, Free Masks and Sanitizers and also help them to take to government hospitals if any of them feels any symptoms of Cough, Cold or Flu. For the purpose we are running one Medical equipped Van, consisting of 2 Doctors and 6 volunteers in Delhi regularly since 24th of April 2020. We have two Food Distribution Vans who are distributing Food packets in such slum colonies of Delhi where the most of such people are living in un-hygienic conditions. Under this program we shall continue our Project for Distributing Ready-to-eat Food/Grocery-Kit and Medical Aid in Slum Colonies in Delhi specifically in Kali Basti (Uttam Nagar), JJ Colony-Uttam Nagar, JJ Colony-Khayala, JJ Colony-Hastsal, JJ Colony-Kakrola, JJ Colony-Raghubir Nagar, JJ Colony-Nangloi etc.

Since the COVID having impact on people’s health, work and life among the most important challenges created by COVID is how to adapt to a system of education built around schools. Since last two academic years schools have been closed. Primary to middle class students in slum colonies are most effected as many of them have lost their earning family members and still unable to continue their studies. Such families main priority is to earn livelihood instead of education to children. During CORONA crisis school closure have a very real impact on all students, but especially on the most vulnerable ones who are more likely to face additional barriers. Children and youth from low-income Families; and Indigenous backgrounds; with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations; and those with special education needs suffer by being deprived of physical learning opportunities, social and emotional support available in schools and extra services such as school meals.  
 ABHINAV SAMAJ, through this project, is providing Free School Books, Stationery and other study materials to nursery to middle school students living in slum colonies since May 2020 i.e. beginning of CORONA crisis so that students could continue to be friendly with their syllabus.Since May 2020 we have been distributing School Books, Stationery and other learning materials to students of Nursery to Middle Classes living in slum colonies i.e. Kali basti (Vikas Puri), JJ Colony, A-Block, Uttam Nagar, JJ Colony, Khayala, JJ Colony, Hastsal, JJ Colony, Vikas Nagar, JJ Colony, Raghubir Nagar etc. in Delhi so that students could continue their studies to some extent, however they can't study like in schools. Our volunteers have been giving them weekend coaching classes too to help them in their studies. This year too we are distributing School Books, Stationery and other learning materials to students of Nursery to Middle Classes living in above colonies. 
 As the most effected areas during COVID is slum colonies and JJ Colonies in Delhi. Families living in such colonies having main priority for their food instead of education to children. Due to our efforts children living in these slum and JJ Colonies could continue to their studies to some extent. Since April' 2020 till date we have distributed School-Books/Study-Material to 10,980 students in above colonies.

To carry out education requires financial backup, a conducive environment and opportunity to carry out the education. Almost all these things the girls from marginalised backgrounds lack. That leads to child marriage, child labour, prostitution. Girls drop out of school in India at a much higher rate than boys. According to the Ministry of Human Resources Development, 27% of girls are not completing their secondary education. 
 There is a lack of opportunity for economically backward girls to dream about higher education abroad. If we do not help them, they will never have a chance to go to university. This program aims to provide girls with the possibility of completing their high school education and enrolling in a university abroad. The program will be launched in 10 selected districts in the country to provide year-long mentorship to economically backward girls to help them complete their higher education. To help girls learn and believe in themselves and their abilities and support them in becoming the best version of whom they aspire to be. 
 Women's education is a global campaign, so every girl should have the right to get an education. It is an obligation on society. Women can change the future of their country and the world. We need to nurture them, educate them and provide them with opportunities to grow and reach their full potential.We are the only institution that is 100% focused on developing women leaders. We prepare our girls with mentorship to prepare them for higher education abroad. We ensure every year 100 girls should secure study opportunities abroad. They will complete their master and PhD without difficulties.Education is vital for the young mind. It is what can make or break them. A good education, with quality teachers and mentors, are required who can help them, can open doors for them in life. That is why a mentorship program is important to us.
