“I used to be sexually abused repeatedly, and when I screamed in pain, they hit and threatened me with more violence,” says Priya (name changed), a rescued child sex worker. Priya was abducted by traffickers and sold into a red-light area house before she was rescued by Guria led by Manju. For over two decades, Manju has been rescuing young girls forced into prostitution across the country. She has been shaken to the core seeing some of the most horrifying crimes that young girls have to undergo. “You can’t imagine the state of girls forced into sex work. The girls are given electric shocks and burnt with cigarette butts just to get kicks out of it. And if they get pregnant, the "owners" kick them repeatedly in the womb so that the child inside dies…If you want to see hell, it is here on this planet where young girls are sexually abused,” says Manju.Manju needs your help to rescue more young girls from forced prostitution and reunite them with their families. Donate now.Guria’s work over the yearsBased out of Varanasi, inarguably the holiest place in India, Manju and her organisation Guria, fights the sexual exploitation of girls, especially minors, by taking on the traffickers head-on, and rescuing and rehabilitating them.Started in 1993, Guria has rescued over 5500 persons from slavery, sex trafficking, and child prostitution so far. It has also been instrumental in shutting down hundreds of places that housed trafficked girls and putting scores of traffickers out of business and in jail.For instance, in 2005, a Guria-led rescue operation in Varanasi's red-light area led to the freeing of 49 women and girls, including minors. Many of them were kept against their will. Some of the traffickers were also arrested and tried. Since then, Guria has rescued thousands of young girls.Manju and her husband, Ajeet Singh began rescuing girls from Varanasi’s red-light areas and then working to stop the sex-trafficking of young girls within Uttar Pradesh and outside. The organisation’s aim is to eliminate the sex trafficking of women, especially minor girls, end second-generation prostitution and child prostitution, and rehabilitate women and girls who are rescued from the trade. Manju has faced violent backlash from the traffickers and other vested interests, but it has not deterred her from carrying on rescuing young girls from trafficking. Rescue and rehabilitationBesides rescuing girls trafficked for sex, mostly from low-income families, from across the country, Guria fights on their behalf in courts and also provides education, food, vocational training, and other facilities until they are united with their families. But because of a lack of funds, Guria is finding it difficult to rescue more girls and also take care of them once they are away from the clutches of the traffickers. Take the case of Sameena (name changed), who was abducted from Uttar Pradesh all the way to Telangana. Guria took it upon itself to rescue the girl with the help of its own work and also the authorities. After months of rehabilitation, Sameena went back to her family and even completed her education. It was formally registered as an organization in 1989, under the Rajasthan society’s registration act. 1958 with 80 G &amp; 12 A and later on it was also registered under the Foreign Contribution regulation act 1976.Thus the major challenges of the area are –Poverty, Movement of youth away from their villages due to lack of sufficient sources of livelihood, Poor health and education status, Low status of women.Since its inception in the year 1989 the NGO have covered a long distance of development process in its 30+ years work.Vision: Creation of an equal and just society where the vulnerable and marginalized section of the society effectively participate in the social development process leading to control over their resources .GOAL: The general goal of our organization is to ensure partner and community need-based socio-economic self-reliance for the deprived and poverty-stricken rural populations.Mission: To work towards the promotion of gender equity and social justice among st the vulnerable to strengthen effective articulation of their needs and gaining access and control over their resources.Creating mass awareness on various social and economic issues was the first ever initiative of the organization, once the awareness programmes cleared the dust of lethargic attitude, ignorance and unwillingness to leave impractical traditions, the NGO started bringing in socio-economic development programmes with the support of various government as well as leading non-government organizations. The population is predominantly tribal (52.45%). The hilly terrain, lack of sufficient rainfall and uneven land in the area makes the live of rural people terrible and pathetic. The average literacy level of the area is extremely poor and the female literacy rates are far below the national average.

Salumbar is one of the blocks of Udaipur. It has 48 panchayats (NIC 2008) and a total of 249 revenue villages. The block is located 72kms south of Udaipur city, and bordered by Dungarpur, Banswada and Pratapgadh district. It has a central plain area surrounded by the hilly terrain of Aravali range. The world famous Jaisamand Lake also comes within this block.The project is being proposed to be located in 10 villages of Salumber Block (Bedawal,Pawati,Sati ki chori ,Malpur,Morila , Baroliya, Kerpura, Payatalab, Banoda, Sarwni ) Udaipur city districts of Rajasthan.The problem we are trying to address is the problem of Low income and low infrastructure set up in the project area have a negative impact on children, who need to be in school for education and good health. One of the major problems in the area is the particularly low literacy rate, especially among women, as described above. Another problem is seasonal migration for livelihood: often, parents take their children with them, which results in the children not attending school for the period of the migration, and leads to dropouts. Parents are generally not involved or only little involved in the education of their children. This results in serious underdevelopment in the skills of the children, including reading, numeracy, writing but also life and emotional skills. An important number of children don't have the level associated with the class they are in and are struggling to learn and improve. This goes against RTE claims. The local institutions concerned with the education of children (such as School Management Committees) are not functioning and they are not adequately linked together. we also believe that the state governments are also trying to solve these problems by implementing their own solutions, they need technical support and demonstrations from non-profit organizations in respect to more qualitative conceptualization and implementation of solutions. From that perspective, it is a challenge for the state that not many quality promising examples and demonstrations argent available. Even those that are available, are not catering to the population of similar socio-economic backgrounds.  
 Child Development project :This project aims to promote education of out-of-school children aged between 06 to 14 years, including those who are either differently-abled or otherwise at risk, by facilitating their access to mainstream State-funded primary/elementary. This is a one-year project. The project is named as Build Bright Future For 300 Tribal Children .The activity sets included in this project are:-Criteria for selection of childrenThe Child is between age group 06 to 14 yearsChild who has never been to schoolChild who is not attending school but nominally enrolled, irregular or absent for more than 45 days without informing the school .Child who is a laggard ((e.g. the child’s age is 12 years but can read text of only Class II &amp; III etc).Priorities should be given to following socially vulnerable groups:-children at risk, like children of inmates, children in conflict with law, runaway children, children of sex workers, children of migrant workers, victims of child labour practices, HIV positive children, children of HIV positive parents, orphans and children in need of care and protection. 
 About 300 tribal children will be sent to primary school.<ul><li>About 150 tribal family will be benefited in getting education for their children. The children will be relieved from drudgery &amp; illiteracy.</li><li>About 10 villages consisting of 150 tribal families will be motivated for children’s schooling. </li><li>Dropout of tribal children will be reduced. </li><li>No admission will be rejected on the basis of caste and gender of the child. </li><li>Higher involvement and participation in school activity by all parents.</li><li>Contribution to local learning material made by parents and local community.</li><li>More children in the tribal community will be sent to the primary school. </li><li>This project will be able to address the primary education, health and social environment of tribal children with a social integration component of their family in the mainstreaming of national development.</li></ul>
