“What will happen to them after me? I am 80+. I spend sleepless nights,” worries ex-Air Force officer, Group Captain AC Barua while talking about the future of the 28 destitute women under his care. “They have nobody in this world, sometimes they don’t remember their own names. They are absolutely alone,” he informs us as he goes from one room to the other meeting all the women who live at Seneh, the only home where they are loved and taken care of. After fighting for his country all his life, this octogenarian is now fighting to rescue homeless and abandoned women from dying on the streets. But he cannot do it alone. “Everyday I keep on getting calls from here and there. ‘Oh! there’s a woman lying here. Can you help?’ But I don’t dare to go and help because I don’t have the money. I don’t have the resources, our resources are very limited,” explains Gr. Capt. Barua who is lovingly called ‘Sir’ and ‘Deuta’ (father in Assamese) by the residents of Seneh. With your help, 80-year-old Group Captain Barua can fulfill his mission of rescuing abandoned and homeless women from dying on the streets, alone. Many times these are women with mental health conditions and considered being a witch due to superstitious beliefs and beaten up as a result. They are victims of domestic abuse or widow mothers who are considered to be a burden on the family. Group Captain Barua has not only rescued them from critical conditions, he has provided them with urgent medical care, food and above all, a free safe shelter where they can live with love and care. Among these residents is Sarala Kalita who fled to save herself from the tortures of her alcoholic husband only to face neglect and trauma from her brothers- and sisters-in-law. “Both my brothers and their wives urged my father to leave me somewhere as they didn’t want to take care of me anymore. One day my brother’s wife didn’t even let me have food at home. She just wanted me to leave and go away. So that’s why, my father got in touch with Seneh through someone, and handed me over to Sir to take care of me,” says Sarita who has found joy in living at Seneh. “Coming to Seneh, it felt like I got a new life altogether. Sir has given me a harmonium. I love singing. It makes me forget everything and takes me to someplace else entirely,” she adds. More women like Sarala can find their way to a loving home like Seneh. All they need is a little bit of your kindness. “It is difficult to make both ends meet”To sustain their daily expenditure, Capt Barua needs approx ₹3 lakh a month and arranging the funds is a mammoth challenge for the NGO. “Our expenses are growing day by day. Residents are growing older, their sicknesses are increasing. At times we have to give them special food. They require more care so we have to get more employees. About half of them require leading around, 1-2 has to be fed also. It will be very difficult to sustain it unless we get help,” he added. One act of your kindness can save these abandoned women, with no one in this world, from struggling on the streets to survive. Our unwavering commitment to making a difference is evident in the substantial number of individuals we have reached and impacted. Kothuru took the initiative to create awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on April 6th.</li><li>On April 9th, Ovi paid a visit to the OV center to provide valuable instructions and guidance to the dedicated volunteers.</li><li>On April 26th, a parents' meeting was held at the Dasamapalli OV center. Parents had an opportunity to review their child's progress report and provide feedback.</li><li>In addition to our regular program, we have organized special programs for each week in May.&nbsp;During the first week of May, village people were engaged in various traditional sports and activities.&nbsp;In the second week of May, we organized a Cultural event, showcasing the rich heritage and diversity of our community through music, dance, and performances.</li><li>The third week of May was dedicated to drawing and art, providing an opportunity for individuals to explore their creativity and express themselves through different artistic mediums.&nbsp;Lastly, in the fourth week of May, we focused on Crafts, allowing participants to learn and practice various crafting techniques, creating unique and beautiful handmade items.&nbsp;These special programs aim to enhance the overall experience and provide a diverse range of activities for our participants throughout the month of May.</li><li>On June 5th we strived to create awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic usage in&nbsp;Mittor&nbsp;OV. We took a stand against plastic pollution and work towards a cleaner and greener environment.&nbsp;</li><li>On June 17th, we actively participated in the Swachh Bharat program in Dasamanapalli. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and hygiene in our community, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility among its residents.</li><li>On June 19th, Ovi visited several centers and provided valuable instructions and guidance to our dedicated volunteers, empowering them to make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.</li><li>On June 22nd, an esteemed Agastya instructor conducted a session for our students to help them enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to excel in their academic pursuits.</li><li>The month ended with an important meeting on June 24th in Chintharapalyam with parents. The educational crisis wrought by Covid-19 has focused global attention on the stupendous inequalities in access to learning. Millions of children with no access to technology have suffered an enormous learning loss. ActiLearn 1. O book is designed in accordance with the NCERT curriculum on the experiential and joyful learning principles enunciated by NEP 2020. It intends further to eliminate hard separation and silos between art and science. 
 ActiLearn 1. O is available in both an interactive physical and digital form, in several vernacular languages. It provides children in Grades 6 to 8 an innovative child-centric mentor, a system of learning and improvement no matter their background. 20+ hours of hands-on learning Activities, with clearly stated learning objectives, range from simple to the more challenging, and over 94% activities can be repeated by fellow children/siblings. 
 It helps to promote children's knowledge of science concepts and principles and build curiosity, observation, reflection, exploration and application skills. The issue at hand is that of catering to child development and the need of the hour is to create an open platform for experiential and hands-on learning that encourages questioning and sharing of knowledge.The grand outcome that Agastya intends to achieve is to develop a sense of social responsibility in the community and children of the village/area by providing an opportunity to local youths for mentoring their peers. 
 Operation Vasantha has been impacting the lives of disadvantaged rural children since 2009. This highly interactive and empowering initiative helps &quot;at risk&quot; children to continue education/ process of learning. It also aims to educate families on the importance of education and engage dropouts and other children through interactive activities and fun learning sessions. These activities include parents counseling, health and hygiene camps and education on ecology.The Young Instructor Leader program is a peer to peer teaching initiative where Agastya identifies and trains students to be Young Instructor Leaders where children teach science to their peers. A selected group of students is identified with the help of Agastya's instructors and school teachers. The students are selected based on their leadership skills, innovative approach, innate curiosity, questioning nature and ability to think laterally, not on their ability to secure good grades. They are provided special training on science models in addition to training to build their capacity and skill in presentation and communication skills. 
 Agastya now runs 500+ Operation Vasantha centers across the country where we cater to the community, trying to positively impact their access to livelihood opportunities.The OV centers will impact the community in a positive way that will help in accommodating those who were unfortunate to continue education and will help in further driving the point of emphasis on education among our rural communities.The YIL program started off with less than 10 students in the year 2007 from Kuppam, At present, we have 20,000+ YILs across India.YIL program is one of the unique programs in Agastya for shaping and nurturing our future leaders. The training seeks to empower students to become positive role-models, change-makers in their schools, communities, and the society at large.
