In the dark and dingy alleys of red light areas, injustice, pain and suffering run rampant. And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. He has further supported over 20,000 children with a better life.Sadly, Of the 250 the children rescued from abuse and exploitation, around 70 of them are HIV positive. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Gradually more and more mothers started coming to me and asked me to take their children away, even if it was just for a couple of hours,” he further adds.The work that Girish started in his youth gradually grew to become a movement, with many more joining his cause. His NGO Snehalaya to date has transformed the lives of millions. Girish’s work is crucial for the survival and safety of vulnerable children of sex workers. But no one wants to help women with mental illnesses,” says N Vanitha Rengaraj, chairperson of Sharanalayam.Sharanalaym’s ‘Jothi’ is a sanctuary for over 100 women facing mental challenges. The funds received are being utilized for the construction of 15 Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting Systems (RRWHS), each with a 15,000-litre storage capacity, across identified community buildings.Contributions are supporting the procurement of materials (rooftop catchment fittings, conveyance piping, first-flush mechanisms, filtration units, and storage/recharge structures), along with installation and basic maintenance setup for each system. People with disabilities in India are subject to deprivation in many dimensions of their lives - limiting their ability to grow and contribute to their full potential. Social attitudes and stigmas limit the opportunities of disabled people to participate in social and economic life, often even within their own families.According to the State of the Education Report for India 2019, around 12% of Children With Disabilities (CWDs) dropped out of school, which is comparable with the overall percentage of dropouts among all children. 27% of CWDs never attended any educational institution, as opposed to the overall figure of 17% when the entire child population is taken into account.And in remote rural India, the situation is even worse. With no support, services or opportunities, parents often give up hope. In places where even normal children are struggling to find their path, special needs kids are completely left behind. 
 Ambuja Manovikas Kendra (AMK) started in 1999 in Ropar, Punjab as a special school for differently-abled children. It is a facility for intellectually disabled, autism, cerebral palsy and many disabled children in the entire District of Ropar under the initiative of the Ambuja Cement Foundation. AMK is providing essential services such as special education, therapeutic services, rehabilitation, awareness &amp; inclusion in society, counselling to the parents and supporting stakeholders. AMK works to improve the quality of life of differently-abled children, make them self–dependent &amp; to get mainstreamed in society.At present, the school caters to over 127 children with special needs. It is ensured that children are safe and cared for, that their social and emotional needs are met.  When a child is diagnosed with special needs, it significantly impacts the entire family. Parents experience a range of extreme emotions and siblings too are impacted because their parents’ energies are focused on the special child, who suffers the most. They require different resources, more hands-on support from the family, teachers and an environment that is conducive to supporting their unique needs. Under this perspective, the main objectives of Ambuja Manovikas Kendra are:-<ul><li>To improve the quality of life of the children and adults with special needs</li><li>To make them self-dependent in their activities of daily living &amp; livelihood</li><li>Creating awareness and to provide information in the communities towards disability issues &amp; govt. benefits for PWDs</li></ul>As such AMK provides families with everything they need so that special children can develop the necessary skills to do things in their own life. We wish to provide them with an environment as they need love and empathy to grow, but beyond that, they also need support from society which may bring light into their lives by helping them to live better and regain a part of their childhood. It is a great responsibility, but also of great satisfaction – of helping a child grow and overcome disabilities.

By end of 2021, India will account for nearly 1/4th of the global workforce, and the average age of India’s population will be 29 years. India’s demographic dividend has the potential to fuel its growth, however, more than half of India's working-age population are currently not contributing to any economic activity. 90% of the workforce is not formally trained; only 2% have received formal vocational training and 9% have non-formal training (NSSO Survey, 2019) resulting in low employability levels in the existing talent pool. India continues to face a demand-supply mismatch: Presently, 23 million youth enter the job market every year but only 7 million are placed &amp; the remaining go into informal or disguised unemployment in the Agriculture sector. Considering that nearly 75% of the additional jobs will be skill-based and require vocational training, it is imperative for India to move up the skill ladder. This issue is compounded by a large number of youth (estimated to be more than 500 million-plus) who have dropped out of school, and therefore a sense been forgotten by society.Our inability to make the right investments in human capital may well turn the opportunity of creating a demographic dividend into a demographic disaster instead. In the 14 years of our existence, we have tried to focus our attention on the economic and social development of these forgotten deprived youth in an equitable manner. 
 Through our Skill &amp; Entrepreneurship Development Institutes, we will offer short and intensive courses in different trades to rural youth to achieve sustainable livelihood. This would help them strengthen vocational skills through quality training and secure gainful employment.Skill training will be provided to the candidates in various technical and non-technical trades, to be determined after the in-depth needs assessment. Training<ul><li>Designing a training program as per the aspiration of the youth and market demand</li><li>Apart from skill-based training, soft skills, IT, English and Computer Literacy also provided</li><li>Workplace Experience and On the Job Training</li><li>Counseling and Career Guidance</li></ul>Placement<ul><li>Facilitate with Job Placement and Identify opportunities in nearby industries</li><li>Group Placement</li><li>Mentoring and Support</li></ul>Entrepreneurship<ul><li>Enterprise Development &amp; Support</li><li>Facilitate in Business Planning</li><li>Assistance to access loans</li></ul>Rural Youth between 18-35 years of age will be targeted with 50% practical, 20% theoretical and 30% soft skills training will be provided. The syllabus is aligned with Q_ and NOS developed by NSDC. Upon 75% attendance and satisfactory grade achieved, placement opportunities will be offered along with follow-up and hand-holding support.
