Cattle, bred for profit and abandoned after they stop producing milk, are often found malnourished, injured or sick on city streets. Many face bitter winters, starvation and death in road accidents - a sad fate for cows in a country where they are revered by lakhs of people. To save cows from such a sad end, Swami Ishwar Das started Shree Krishnayan Desi Gaushala, currently home to 18,000+ abandoned cows. But with the rising costs of fodder and medicines, he is struggling to provide the quality of care such mistreated animals deserve. “It was in 2010 when I witnessed abandoned cows from the streets in Uttarakhand being transported in a truck. The cows were administered anesthesia and stacked one above the other like lifeless goods. When me and a few of my acquaintances brought the cows off the truck, two of them died before my eyes and that sight shook me to the core. Animals often tend to get into trouble either by vehicular accidents or other disastrous situations. They also get trapped in inaccessible situations like falling into wells or getting stuck on high-rise buildings or trapped in Manja on high branches of trees where it becomes very hard for anyone to respond quickly to save these animals. Such types of rescues are referred to as tactical animal rescues as they need more tactical and experienced approaches with proper equipment. These kinds of rescues are often ignored or left unattended just due to the risk involved or lack of equipment.

Saving animals from distress

More than 30 million animals are living on the streets in India. Often animals can become trapped or stuck in various situations, leading to distress or even endangering their lives. Their limited mobility or physical impairment can make hunting, scavenging, or accessing resources difficult, further weakening their condition. The lack of medical aid and resources often delays necessary treatment, exacerbating their suffering or even resulting in death. AWCS TAC teams rescue hundreds of animals and birds from critical conditions. However, they can't transfer animals and birds to the hospital on time due to the unavailability of ambulance service. Often rescued birds/animals lose their lives due to high temperatures and lack of emergency treatment. Millions of animals lose their lives due to a lack of rescue and medical aid on time. 
 AWCS aims to start a 24*7 ambulance service for distressed animals and birds. Ambulances will help give emergency treatment to trapped animals and birds on the spot and timely transport them to the hospital, increasing their chances of survival. We have an emergency helpline number for rescuing animals, and after the addition of an ambulance service, they can provide complete care to the animals in distress. To start this ambulance service, we need the following: -One four-wheeler van ambulance-A rescue and medical staff team 
 This ambulance service will rescue animals from the most critical situations around the clock. No other similar service is available for animals in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. We treat birds at our rehabilitation center, and our team is trained in rescuing wild animals from critical situations. Many wild and domestic birds we save die during transportation, and this ambulance will increase their chances of survival. It means it will double the number of animals and birds we save. -We will save more than 1000 animals and birds every month.-We will cover the entire Hyderabad city and every village located within 150 Km surrounding Hyderabad. -We will save more animals than we are saving at present.-We will rescue and treat animals in the remotest part of Hyderabad.-We will be able to treat minor injuries on the spot, saving more lives by spending fewer hospital resources.
