Cattle, bred for profit and abandoned after they stop producing milk, are often found malnourished, injured or sick on city streets. Many face bitter winters, starvation and death in road accidents - a sad fate for cows in a country where they are revered by lakhs of people. To save cows from such a sad end, Swami Ishwar Das started Shree Krishnayan Desi Gaushala, currently home to 18,000+ abandoned cows. But with the rising costs of fodder and medicines, he is struggling to provide the quality of care such mistreated animals deserve. “It was in 2010 when I witnessed abandoned cows from the streets in Uttarakhand being transported in a truck. The cows were administered anesthesia and stacked one above the other like lifeless goods. When me and a few of my acquaintances brought the cows off the truck, two of them died before my eyes and that sight shook me to the core. It was then that I started Shree Krishnayan Gaushala with 11 abandoned cows in a small donated land,” says Swami Ishwar Das.Swami Ishwar Das is unable to bear the rising cost of nutrition and medical care for injured cows and needs support to continue to save these voiceless animals. This can ONLY be achieved by changing the collective mindset from ignorance to education, and pushing the aware people towards action. Babul is engaged in spreading environmental awareness along the 3 verticals of environment, biodiversity, and sustainable development, using short videos, social media and traditional advocacy. We are slowly and steadily making progress towards a less ignorant and more proactive society. We have many eco-awareness projects lined up and we need your valuable support to realize them. Awareness is the first step towards environmental protection. Our flagship program towards this end is the world's 1st Online EcoDictionary in video format. We have about 15 Facebook pages dedicated to biodiversity awareness. We are building the library for easy access to people. We regularly conduct advocacy events. Every year in June, we organize the Environment Film Festival at Hyderabad and take it to different places. We conduct screenings , eco-games and activities which include biowalks and online and offline contests. Some of our popular programs are EcoDoctor, EcoAntakshari, BioRangoli, Plastic Free, FunDuChallenge, Virtual Zoo etc., We also run a channel on YouTube. In view of the extreme hardships faced by the situation resultant of the Corona Virus pandemic, we are also in to providing Covid Relief to various communities affected by lockdown and health regulations. We assisted about 3500 migrant labour stuck in Hyderabad during April - June 2020. The relief included food, ration, lockdown essentials, travel assistance, tech support etc., From July 2020 onwards we are also included the private school teachers, street vendors, handloom weavers etc., in our beneficiary groups. We have a view count of 30000 plus on our videos on YouTube. Our posts, live streams and other videos on social media attract good engagement and shall continue to do so. We cut down on costs by using natural light for our shoots, along with adhering to the best practices of sustainable filmmaking and distribution.

Rampant use of plastic is causing lot of damage to us all humans, to other living creatures and to Nature as a whole. In some cases this damage is irreversible. Untold misery to animals, birds, aquatic life; choked drains &amp; urban floods; high incidence of cancer; pollution of land, water, vegetation and air; ugly streets and surroundings; mosquito breeding etc., are some examples of the harm to Environment caused by plastics. Indiscriminate use of Single Use Plastics, irresponsible disposal, weak garbage collection systems, low awareness rate are some of the reasons which need to be fixed. Even though there is some legislation in place, it is proving insufficient due to poor implementation. What is needed is a collective strong will of all the stakeholders to drastically reduce the production and use of Single Use Plastics. The root cause of Plastic pollution is its durability and quality of being non-biodegradable. Though efforts are on to find technological solutions to this, the best way to deal with this is bringing a behavioural change in the attitude of people towards plastic. <img src="https://cfstatic.give.do/00b5d61e-4d4b-4cda-bb17-1f1fd3f995de.jpeg" />

The power of people can change even the deeply penetrated collective habits. We will identify an area in terms of geography and demography, expose the people to the negative impacts of plastics on Natural environment. Campus of an educational institute, a township are some examples. For this, we will run strong campaigns with appealing content that forces people to act. Virtual /on ground events are used for this. To save time and for effective monitoring Social Media groups are formed. Next, we explain the strategy and develop consensus of all stockholders. In the beginning we will be moderately incentivising people to wean away from addiction to plastics and simultaneously make available the alternatives and educate them about the use of the same. Volunteers will be enrolled from within the target population and oriented to execute and monitor the progress. Suggested timelines are 9 to 12 months. Focus among SUPs is thin Plastic Carry bag. The program will be documented to capture the before and after scenarios. Support of local small businesses and Government officials will be enlisted.  
 Exemplary beginning with the considerable reduction in the use of Single Use Plastic - thin carry bags, will lay a strong foundation for the Plastic Free neighbourhood. Change in the plastic use habits among the residents, students, housewives, maids, office goers, senior citizens, local businesses, the members of the RWA, local government officials and peoples representatives. With the people accepting the use of alternative substitutes for the plastic carry bag, supporting mechanisms to ensure the market availability is put in place. Creating a highly motivated team of volunteers who are sensitive to the Plastics issue, continue the good work in the community. The way people lead their lives and celebrate festivities moves towards eco-friendly lifestyles. Focus will be extended beyond carry bags to different Single Use Items. Students in the community engage in periodical SUP contests and receive prizes. Efforts will be made to promote the cause in social and mainstream media for enhanced outreach. Feedback from covered population will be gathered, strategy refined to increase effectiveness and smoothen the bottlenecks.
