"My son used to kick me when he was in my womb. Why make an issue when he kicked me in my old age?" reasons a very forgiving Shakti Dasi. The widow travelled 2300 kms from Tripura to Vrindavan after her only son violently beat her with a burning plank of wood and broke her knee one evening. She had to leave behind the business she had built with her husband who had died a few years back. Shakti ended up on the streets of Brindavan begging for food and shelter. But when Winnie Singh of Maitri saw Shakti in a frail state in tattered clothes, she brought her to the shelter home where Shakti gets food, care and medicines. What more, with Maitri’s intervention, Shakti reconciled with her son - and daughter-in-law, and now travels home to Tripura twice a year to spend time with her grandchildren. But she is not leaving Maitri, as this has become her family.Not every elderly widow who comes to Vrindavan after being abandoned by her family gets as lucky as Shakti. Many of them often end up living a lonely life and begging to survive on the streets. The pandemic has been affecting the entire food system and has laid bare its fragility.  Due to Covid-19 effect 19% TB patients increased as per data of government of India report. Total number of incident TB patients (new and relapse) notified during 2021 were 19,33,381 in India while in Uttarakhand more than 15035 patients in which 81% patients are very poor and need regular nutrition support with monitoring to fight with TB and make TB free State. Government providing free test and all checkup with free medicine as well as Rs 500 financial support to the TB patients. Despite of all government efforts TB elimination is still challenging due lack of nutrition food &amp; poverty of the patient family. Due to weakness, they are not capable to earn for herself and for families. They need good nutrient support with medicine with continue follow-up and monitoring. Covid-19 affected the livelihood of many factories and low-level workers and due to lack of funds they are not capable to maintain the family needs. Some TB and HIV Patients come from these types of families and they are waiting for death because they are not capable to provide him nutrition food with medicine.

Nutrion Support to TB and HIV Patients to make a TB Free India

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had a significant effect on unemployment in every state of India. Young workers, women, workers with low educational attainment, part-time workers, and racial and ethnic minorities have relatively high unemployment rates. As per the joint statement by ILO, FAO, IFAD and WHO “The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating: tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while the number of undernourished people. The effect can be seen on India as well, we can clearly imagine the life of the poor and marginalized population during this pandemic. Millions of enterprises, industries face an existential threat. The workforce is at risk of losing their livelihoods. Informal economy workers are particularly vulnerable because the majority lacks social protection and access to quality health care and have lost access to productive assets. Without the means to earn an income during lockdowns, many are unable to feed themselves and their families. For most, no income means no food, or, at best, less food and less nutritious food.  
 The pandemic has been affecting the entire food system and has laid bare its fragility. Border closures, trade restrictions and confinement measures have been preventing farmers from accessing markets, including for buying inputs and selling their produce, and agricultural workers from harvesting crops, thus disrupting domestic and international food supply chains and reducing access to healthy, safe and diverse diets. The pandemic has decimated jobs and placed millions of livelihoods at risk. As breadwinners lose jobs, fall ill and die, the food security and nutrition of many of women and men are under threat, particularly the most marginalized populations, which include small-scale farmers and indigenous peoples, being hardest hit. For the time being, we have to stay safe with the COVID 19 pandemic and would also have to reach the marginalized, most needy and vulnerable affected with the food ration supply. The intervention is proposed to supply dry ration (food items and emergency kit) to the unemployed daily wagers, marginal farmers, daily laborer, migrants, elderly in Ashrams, people suffering from chronic illness etc. It is proposed to cover three States and region- Dehradun and Haridwar region of Uttarakhand; Araha, Patna and Chappra (Saran) region of Bihar and Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh 
 Balajee Sewa Sansthan works for the marginalized section of the society covering needy rural poor. Beside this, we are also working with marginal farmers, Migrant Workers, Daily wagers, truckers and patients suffering from chronic illness such as TB disease and HIV-AIDS. This section is the most affected due to corona lockdown and in dire need of help. We are getting many calls from them as we are in direct contact with them. In Bihar generally family of our poor students of learning centre and migrant labourer coming back from the city and marginal families whose members partially are laborer. “No one sleep hungry" it is a immediate impact of life of the all person of the families. If they have not got food support from any one they can come for crime to save his/her family which can be polluted the society. If they got food support for some time then they can wait and try for other honorable work for his/her livelihood.

Support a Covid-19 Affected familiy by “No one sleep hungry-The Family Emergency Kit”.

The impact of COVID-19 across the global economy is profound. It impacted socioeconomic life and millions have or will lose their jobs and livelihoods. Compounded economic impacts are felt especially by women and girls who are generally earning less, saving less, and holding insecure jobs or living close to poverty. The health of women generally is adversely impacted through the reallocation of resources and priorities, including sexual and reproductive health services.Aggregate shocks to economic activity can affect welfare (and well-being) at the household and individual level. There are longer-run dynamic effects that can have extremely damaging impacts on economic mobility of individuals and with that on movements of households into and out of poverty. For example, a loss of income for a period of time can severely restrict the ability of poor households to invest in education of children, and/or in the nutrition and health of children and mothers, with potential negative impacts on long-term outcomes of children, including lifetime earnings. Beside this, due to the pandemic, the lot many migrant workers and laborers have come back to their respective States, which in turn have raised the economic stability concern.  
 Balajee Sewa Sansthan empower and build the capacity of COVID-19 affected economically poor women by providing them training in business and management skills and providing them revolving funds to start economic activities. We are focus on women who are active in taking up this opportunity.Training would be provided in food processing including pickle-papad making, floriculture, cattle reading and dairy work and handicraft/readymade garments making and selling as well as beautician courses for the girls and young entrepreneur who are living around semi-urban localities.Other than above we are going to do following activities with them-     To mobilize and motivate the rural poor women to set up self-help income generating projects by training them in entrepreneurial and business skills.-     These may be fashion designing, beauticians, petty shops, Papad/ pickle making, fruit preservation and establishing small-scale industries in the area.-     To liberate rural women from economic bondage, dependency, poverty and make them financial and socially empowered.-     To extend a Revolving Fund to members of the local communities of the economically poor women (Bankable poor so as to empower them and engage in income generating micro projects and businesses to support their families  
 This project is a woman centric and the grant will be used to empower the women economically and socially by building their capacity to start a business model. It is largely believed that one of the impacts of the grant support will be to increase self-respect and esteem among community and hence liberating them economically, physically, and socially. This project is to explore the capabilities of women and girls and outlining priority measures to accompany both the immediate response and longer-term economic recovery efforts. Other than above following Impact will be there in the community-     COVID affected unemployed rural poor family will become capable to earn 5000-8000 pm-     Get empowered socially and economically and work from home-     Capable to access high quality financial services and products for expansion of the business-     Increased self respect and esteem among rural poor women who will strive to succeed and overcomes poverty.-     Alleviation of poverty from their midst and will acquire financial discipline and learn how to save and invest.

Livelihood Generation for Rural Women through establishing small dairy units and other micro-enterprises

In the nearby town and industrial area of Dehradun Districts many poor and migrant families are living in slums and villages where the basic condition of children, youth, women and aged are deprived. The youth and men work as labourers in industry or in building construction. The women / young girls are not educated and stay home. These women are in need of some basic skill training to become productive and add income to the family. 
 Balajee Sewa Sansthan has been providing skill development training that includes fashion designing, tailoring, beautician and computer literacy in the community mainly to women free of cost. They organize themselves in Self help groups/ Joint liabilities groups. After the course they are linked with banks for financial assistance to undertake new activities. 60 poor women students are getting trained in the vocational centre facility in three batches. Students from BPL, minority and low income group get free training. Balajee Sewa Sansthan targets to train 200 poor Girls/women in FY 2019-20. 
 Girls/women become self dependent. They earn own identity and increase the family income and live better life. They become economically strong and provide livelhood to other womens in her tailoring centers and shops.
