Govt. school children have little to no access to reading story books. BREAD Society has been establishing children’s Libraries in government schools in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the last fourteen years. We have established 1810 libraries so far. We also replenish all existing BREAD libraries with new books every year.  For Rs. 30,000, we will establish a Children’s library in a Government School. We provide 650 unique books and a bookcase and ship these to the school directly.For Rs. 1,000 we will replenish one existing BREAD library with 40 new books. For any multiple of Rs. 1,000 that many libraries will get covered. For amounts which are smaller than Rs. 1,000 we will pool in the funds and replenish books in existing libraries.For establishing a new library, donors have the first option to choose a school of their choice. If the choice is left to BREAD Society, it will either select a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Or a High School securing 6 or more (3 or more for Upper Primary School) NMMS awards a year.KGBVs are residential schools setup in Backward Mandals with lowest women’s literacy in the country. Girls studying in these schools are mostly dropouts, single parent children, orphans and students from economically poorer households. Government provides free education, books, food, shelter and other needs.NMMS (National Means and Merit Scholarship) is a Government Scheme to reduce dropouts. A National Level Test is held nationwide in 8th standard for students of govt. and aided schools. Successful students are awarded Rs.12,000 scholarship per annum for 4 years till completion of higher secondary education. BREAD is a 100% voluntary organization with no overheads. Entire donation is spent on books, bookcase, packing and forwarding the library material to the school. Donor can access the beneficiary school on phone or by visiting it directly.
