The BNP special committee screens the applications by verifying income levels, family background and academic performance of the candidate. After shortlisting the candidates, the panel interviews them and then releases the final list of selected girl students. The progress of the beneficiaries is mapped and real impact in their lives is quantified and sent to donors. About The NGO Bhagini Niveditha Pratisthan (BNP) prides itself on being an organization for women, by women, of women. BBNP works towards helping women to identify and tackle problems in their communities, in a way that comes to naturally to their instincts as members of their communities. They are trained to not only support their families but also become self-reliant. Bhagini Niveditha Pratisthan has transformed around 2600 Lives through computer training and skill development activities. The organization's Abhyasika project focuses on helping the children in such underprivileged communities by strengthening adding to their skill sets through various activities like language games, mathematical puzzles, field trips, hobby workshops and science experiments. BNP also runs homeopathic dispensaries at Pune and Dighi and conducts free medical checkups. So far the organization had provided free homeopathic treatment to 3500 patients.

Children are the most affected group of the society due to the Corona pandemic. In India, the impact was very large and deep especially in the lower income group. The problems that have cropped up are:Reading, writing and arithmetic is being forgotten due to lack of practice and reduction in attention span. Proper use of digital media is missing among teachers and students are not used to it. The situation was alarming during the pandemic due to scarcity of smart phones, inability to pay phone bills among the parents. Lack of a supportive environment at homeThese children need additional coaching to support school studies 
  This vacuum is filled by the Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan, Pune through Project Abhyasika &amp; Science Promotion. BNP has been running this activity for the last 20 years, where students from 1st to 10th standard come to our center during non-school hours. Here they do their studies and homework under guidance of experts and trained staff. The “Learn with Fun” method is adopted to strengthen language and mathematical skills. The aim is to get cleared basic concepts, to increase thinking power and to inculcate self-study habits using creative activities, including science project competition &amp; exhibition, exposure visits. Supplementary nutritional snacks are given regularly. We maintain individual records to monitor their overall progress. 
 Since its inception, 2300+ students from the local community have been advantaged by this program. The early birds are now grown up as responsible and successful citizens and are our proud alumni. The students have gained confidence about their abilities as they get ample opportunities to learn by play way methods. This is in tune with the National Education Policy where stress is given to activity-based education for school children. Through this project scholastic performance and overall personality of children has improved and this will further help to better the overall educational level of the family.During and post COVID, students are availing both online and offline coaching as per the local conditions. The provision of supplementary nutritional snacks has filled the gap caused by online schooling and contributed to raise general immunity level. Parents in the nearby areas preferred to send their wards at the study centre as a safe and fruitful alternative.Contribute generously to this fund.

Impact Ashima Begum is a student of Class XI from the village of Morigaon District, Assam. To reach the school one has to travel through an inhospitable terrain for a two km stretch of broken road. The devastating flood of last year has inflicted irreparable damage to the road. There are around 300 girl students in the school. Ashima, a frail and pale girl of around 15 has to walk two km to the river bank, take a country boat to cross, walk another km to reach school. Her parents are marginal farmers who are hardly making a living with the meager farm income and occasional hard labor in others fields. She is the second one out of the seven siblings. Her elder sister, who never went to any school save a year or two in a small Madrassa, is now married. She is 17 but already has a child in her lap. She is expecting a second child. Ashima's parents are unhappy because they think she is wasting her time by going to school. Luckily for her, the school is not only free but gives a midday meal, school uniform and all books, her only expenditure is commuting by boat. Ashima misses her school three to four days every month when she has her periods,. When our volunteers inquired from the students, only two had heard about sanitary pads. Even the daughter of a teacher at the same school, who is in class XI, had not heard of the existence of such pads. They use dirty cloth pads, to contain the trickle down, which they hide out of shame.There is an urgent need to educate the girls about menstrual hygiene. Unfortunately even if they are convinced that using sanitary pads is a must for their health and hygiene, no one in the school can spend towards the cost of buying the pads from the market. Even if the parents can afford, they themselves are unaware of its importance and they will consider it as an infrastructure expenditure. They conducted a study in an all-girls school located in a small semi urban locality. The study included a medical camp mainly by female doctors to ascertain the health and hygiene standards of the adolescent rural school going girl children from very poor backgrounds. The entire student population of the school was taken as the sample size. A shocking revelation was that 92 percent do not use sanitary napkins. They use unhygienic dirty torn clothes to arrest the flow trickling down. 32% of the girls avoided school during this period. To support the girls and improve the hygiene and overall sanitation, SENEH aims to distribute sanitary napkins free of cost. The sanitary napkins will be purchased in bulk from wholesalers which will benefit them with a discount. Every quarter SENEH's staff will travel to both the schools and distribute the napkins directly to the beneficiaries. About The NGO Bhavada Devi Philanthropic Trust is working for the benefit of the underprivileged and deprived sections of the society, especially women of North East India.The old and the infirm suffer, sinc their children in many cases are dumping them to fend for themselves out of economic compulsions. Women in the age group of fifty and above are the ones who suffer the most, because they are mentally and physically vulnerable.To alleviate their suffering and bring dignity to some of these women, the Trust has opened a destitute home at Guwahati. Aptly named SENEH, meaning 'Selfless Love', the home provides shelter, food, medical care, clothing and all necessities for sustaining a decent dignified life. As of now there are over 20 destitute women who have made SENEH their home. The extent of help that such hapless women require is evident from the fact that in the last few years SENEH has organized cataract operations, provided dentures, hearing aids, and treatments for various ailments including prolonged psychiatric medication.The vision is that in the sunset of their lives, they can once again learn to laugh and sing and live together as a family.

Support monthly sanitary napkins for five girls

Women Empowerment

Education is the 4th and important pillar of human life and progress. Generally, girls are able to study up to Grade 12, as it is free. However, for many girls from disadvantaged families, college education remains a distant dream. The boys in the family are given a much higher priority and girls have to strive hard to pursue higher education. Those coming from rural area, face problems of tuition fee, accommodation, food along with scarcity of study and project material. This affects the academic performance of the girls and future career. 
 The NGO decided to help impoverished deserving girls by giving scholarships so that they can tide over the situation. The beneficiaries are identified through publicity and word of mouth. Our special committee verifies the income proof, family background and academic records of the beneficiary. After the short listing is complete the committee interviews the girl and the scholarship is provided. Each beneficiary is asked to provide her progress record periodically. 
 The activity is carried out for last 7-8 years and 420+ girl students have been benefited by way of scholarship their engineering, medical, management and architecture studies and are on a competitive career path. This scholarship of great financial support for the essential educational expenses like books, material, field work including part payment of fees. Sometimes it also helps them for their livelihood when they are staying away from home. Thus BNP is contributing to a common woman for their empowerment.
