Human trafficking in India is a horrifying crisis. Thousands of victims, primarily women and girl children, are exploited in red-light areas. Over 10,659 cases were reported between 2018-2022, but experts say that these numbers are likely a fraction of the reality due to underreporting, yet they still do expose the magnitude of the crisis. Girls make up 71.4% of missing children in India and a large number of these girls end up at red-light areas. Sex trafficking is particularly gruesome, with girls as young as 12 sold for as little as a few thousand rupees.

Bharat Ke Veer is a fundraising initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on behalf of the members of the Indian Armed Forces. The initiative was launched by the noted Hindi film actor Akshay Kumar and is supported by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. It allows donations of up to ₹ 15 lakhs to an individual's account and donations to the "Bharat Ke Veer" corpus. Bharat Ke Veer corpus would be managed by a committee made up of eminent persons of repute and senior government officials, in equal number, who would decide to disburse the fund equitably to the families of the Bravehearts on a needs basis. The amount so donated will be credited to the account of ‘Next of Kin’ of those of Central Armed Police Force or National Disaster Response Force soldiers.

At least 40 soldiers were killed and about 20 others wounded on 14 February 2019 when an explosives-loaded van rammed into a CRPF paramilitary convoy in Pulwama Districts in Jammu &amp; Kashmir. It was one of the deadliest car bombings in the disputed region’s history. These soldiers were returning to the military camp after a few days of vacation with their families. 
 Bharat Ke Veer is a Ministry of Home Affairs Initiative supported by Akshay Kumar and Mr. Rajnath Singh. Since the last 2 years, Bharat Ke Veer has been raising funds to support the Bravehearts' families.The funds raised by Bharat Ke Veer is directly sent to the families' bank accounts. While this money can never replace what the families have lost, but this financial aid is a small token of support to the close ones of the martyrs who lost their lives protecting our nation.
