The focus is on comprehensive and inclusive health, education and livelihood training in order to promote sustainable economic well-being, equality and basic human rights for all, regardless of gender, age and ability.</li><li>Vision: Our vision is the realization of empowered self-reliant tribal and rural communities with improved socio-economic conditions without damaging their cultural and environmental identity.</li><li>Where We Work: CTRD works in an area called “The Nilgiris” (Blue Mountains), a District in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. It is a remote region of hills, mountains, forests, tribal villages, and tea estates with a cool climate.</li><li>We operate in three areas (blocks) of the Nilgiris District: Gudalur, Ooty and Coonoor. In these areas, we serve 4 municipalities, 11 town panchayat and 35 village panchayat of Nilgiris district.</li><li>Target Groups: CTRD works with three Primitive Tribal Groups (PGTs): the Kurumba, Kattunayaka and Paniya and Kotta. These tribes live in isolated villages and have limited contact with people from outside. They are mainly dependant on agricultural work, having very low levels of literacy and education.
