To create sustainable and self-reliant rural communities is the mission of the NGO, Chaitanya Educational and Rural Development Society (CERDS). CERDS was created to work exclusively in the dry-land and coastal regions of Prakasam and Guntur Districts of Andhra Pradesh, to help poor communities overcome the effects of poverty and create a new future for themselves.They aim to help the poor overcome their socio-economic problems by involving them in the problem and inculcating attitudes of change. PCDP is a participatory, non-violent process of problem-solving, consciousness-raising and empowering the poor. CERDS used this approach to mobilize people to act and solve their problems. Skill Development for Women, livelihood support to disadvantaged women, nutrition support to HIV/AIDS infected people, sanitation support for disabled people and drinking water facilities for disadvantaged are a few programs undertaken by CERDS.About 12,000 families and 55,000 population belonging to tribal and other vulnerable communities in the sea-coastal villages of Prakasam and Guntur Districts have been ensured safe drinking water facilities. CERDS have been honored with numerous awards for their selfless service in uplifting the rural communities and helping them to make themselves self-sustained.

In our society a person living with HIV/AIDS or disability or old age is destined for a life of dependency. For the poor, this burden can be extreme. These people can be a social, financial, mental or a physical burden to their families. Most of these people belong to the poor families and can not afford meeting their daily living standards. Because of HIV/AIDS or disability or old age, these vulnerable people have to face hardships to depend upon others for their living needs. Access to sufficient nutritious food is often an issue of concern to families having a member with HIV/AIDS or disabilities or old age because of poverty and unequal distribution of resources within the household. 
 People belong to HIV/AIDS or disability or old age group are physically too weak to work, and mentally drained out as well. In fact, these people, who belong to the weaker sections in the society, are unable to resolve their needs on their own sources. Keeping in view of the vulnerability of these people and based on the availability of sources, CERDS has been extending nutrition support to them in its target villages to lead normal life and counter health hazards.CERDS has been working in the target villages and had its own identity and strong rapport with all target communities by implementing various comprehensive community development programmes for the last 19 years. In every village CERDS has 5-10 committed volunteers for its programmes and also had good communications with local health departments. Apart of this members of the farmers’ clubs, which were promoted in 65 villages recently by CERDS, will also help at all levels of programme implementation i.e., beneficiaries identification and programme implementation and monitoring. CERDS purchases benefits bulky and distributes the benefits directly to the beneficiaries at nearest centres. A bag of nutrition provisions containing Raagi Powder, Wheat Rawa, Red gram dal, Ground nuts and Eggs and others essentials are provided to the target people every month. And also sensitized the people infected HIV/Aids importance of nutrition diet and to get proper health and medical support from concern linked ART Centres timely.

It entails keeping your hands, head and body clean so as to stop the spread of germs and illness. Our personal hygiene benefits our health and impacts the lives of those around us too. Keeping in view of affect of the pathetic corona virus, all we should follow strictly personal hygiene promptly.In part of anti-corona virus measures, CERDS would like to assure basic food security ( a food supplies kit contains rice, red-gram dall, wheat flour, finger millet flour, jaggery, cooking oil, vegetables etc.,) and hygiene kit (liquid hand wash, hand wash soaps, masks) to the all target needy families, who lost their wages during this emergency period.
