The team rushes to the spot, stabilises the monkey with emergency care, and brings them to the centre for treatment. Trained veterinarians clean wounds, perform surgeries, and nurse them back to health. “Watching a monkey who couldn’t move begin to climb again after weeks of treatment, that’s what keeps us going,” Hari Kishan shares.From fear to freedomMany monkeys that reach Guardian of Angels have endured unimaginable cruelty, chained for years, burned, or beaten for amusement. “When they first arrive, their eyes are full of pain and distrust,” says Hari Kishan. “But with time, care, and love, those same eyes begin to soften. They start to trust again.”Once recovered, the team ensures the monkeys are safely released back, far from the dangers of roads and electric lines. The extent of the struggles here was beyond my imagination. These villages had no connectivity to the outside world, and very limited access to healthcare and quality education”, says Bipin Dhane, founder of the school. Bipin, who grew up in the small town of Satara in Maharashtra, faced countless financial hardships. Despite his struggles, Bipin secured admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and then went on to take up a job in Singapore. Owing to his childhood experiences Bipin was always inclined towards helping the less fortunate, and he believed in the transformative power of education. It was in 2016 that Bipin left his lucrative career abroad and moved to Majuli, to provide the children from this inaccessible river island education they were deprived of.“Whatever little money I had saved, I gave it to my parents. I had no money to start the school. It was then that villagers came together to build bamboo huts. Each family donated bamboo, wood, and whatever little they could. We work towards creating awareness by conducting educational sessions across schools, colleges, societies,etc about various aspects of animal welfare. Our shelter is also an educational centre where we invite field trips to get a first hand experience about animals.

Started in 2019, Citizens for Animal Protection Foundation is a registered organisation based in Thane working towards various avenues of animal welfare like rescue and rehabilitation, relief work, animal Cruelty, animal rights &amp; advocacy, animal welfare awareness and animal shelter. Our mission is to create a better structure for all the animals in need. Our aim is to expand the circle of compassion towards animals among people. We are building a shelter called Freedom Farm in Thane for all kinds of animals as an environmentally sustainable critical care and educational centre. It is the first of its kind in Thane.
