The Akshaya Patra Foundation, for 20 years, has been a purveyor of the Mid-Day Meal Programme (MDM) supporting government school students in India with a hot nutritious lunch every school day, encouraging underprivileged children to remain enrolled and complete their secondary education.At its core, the Foundation aims at countering malnutrition while supporting the right to education of socio-economically disadvantaged children. The midday meal or breakfast served in schools serves as an incentive for children to attend school and for parents to send their children to school. Resulting in an improved enrolment rate in government schools, regular attendance, enhanced performance and nutritional profile of the children, while reducing the dropout rate. The arrangement also serves as a source of economic support to the family, as every school day one nutritious meal for their child is taken care of.At present, beside serving children through the MDM Programme, Akshaya Patra continues to serve communities in need:Cooked Meals served to:·        COVID-19 patients and their families in hospitals·        Essential and frontline workers, including sanitization workers, staff in government hospitals·        Migrant workers·        Homeless and people in night shelters·        Food for Isolated Groups of people e.g. the elderly·        Disadvantaged familiesGrocery Kits distributed to:·        Households in underprivileged communities (contains pulses, rice/atta, oil, spices, fortified salt and sugar; ingredients in kits are based on local tastes)·        Government school children through the Happiness Kit Initiative (contains rations to promote nutrition, hygiene products to boost immunity, and stationery)·        Family Happiness Kits distributed to serve the entire family. Includes rations, educational material for children, and stationery and hygiene products.  ·        Raksha Kit which acts as an incentive for people from marginalized communities to get vaccinated (includes rations, soap and awareness booklet)·        Distributed to underprivileged anaemic pregnant women, Shakti Kit promote a healthier pregnancy and the birth of healthy babies

Mitti Café is a chain of cafes that provides experiential training and employment to adults with physical and intellectual disability.The organisation’s outreach initiatives helps create awareness about inclusion and disability rights. Mitti Cafés across India are managed by hundreds of adults with disability who have have in the last few years served over 6 million meals and beverages-thereby creating awareness about inclusion with every meal served.They have 16 cafes within institutions like Wipro,Infosys,Accenture,Wells Fargo,ANZ Bank,IQVIA and now Cytecare Hospital to name a few.Their warriors with disabilities in this pandemic have cooked and served over 2 million meals to the poor and vulnerable communities and homeless groups,thereby proving the magic of abilities as a result of economic independence and dignity .In the short span Mitti has been featured in the Forbes list of 30 under 30 ,is a Commonwealth Youth Awardee and has won awards like the NCPEDP Mindtree Hellen Keller Award ,Times of India-She Unlimited Award ,Rotary Exemplar award ,Microsoft Nipman Award, Tiecon Young female Entrepreneur of the Year Award,amongst others.

Christel House transforms the lives of impoverished children—breaking the cycle of poverty and building self-sufficient members of society. It is one of the few charities in India to enrol underprivileged children at the age of 5 years, provide education, nutrition and healthcare, right through Grade 12. Furthermore, students are mentored on their choice of degree and diploma courses and given financial support for their university education through scholarships.

Charlies Animal Rescue Centre – CARE established in January 2013, initially on half an acre of land adjacent to the picturesque Jakkur Lake, later moved to a larger place at Mitteganahalli, Yelahanka. The inspiration behind the trust, is 15 year old Charlie, a differently abled, 3 legged Indian Dog who was an established figure in the field of canine therapy since 2005. Charlie passed away in March, 2017, but has left behind a legacy that the CARE shelter aims to live up to through rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need.The Care Shelter is also home to animals of all kinds which includes dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, ducks and a calf. These animals are permanent residents of CARE due to their varying needs and special conditions – blindness, differently abled, paraplegic,serious ailments, aged and who require constant care, medical attention and love. These animals will live at CARE for the rest of their lives.
