Their mission was all-encompassing – the relief of suffering.RAPHAEL is a duly registered charitable society governed by a Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations. It caters to the needs of the economically weaker sections of society in the State of Uttarakhand and the neighbouring districts of North Western Uttar Pradesh.All its facilities and services are provided free - at no cost - to its beneficiaries. Latika Roy Memorial Foundation (LRF), registered under the Societies Act of 1860, has been a force for inclusion in India for nearly 30 years. Founded in 1994 and based in Dehradun, we work with disabled children, young adults and their families. We provide creative diagnostics, education and therapy to children and adults, focusing on the poor, but open to all. Our seven centres – Gubbara, the Early Intervention Center, Karuna Vihar Special School, the Child Development Center, the Center for Vocational Training, Latika Vihar, and the Resource Center – cater to anyone with a disability, from infants to adults, and their families.

Waste Warriors is a for-impact solid waste management organisation. Our journey began in 2010 in the littered mountains of Dharamshala with just empty bags, some gloves, a few volunteers, and a vision to clean India.Since 2010, over 400 million tourists have visited the Himalayan states of Uttarakhand and Himachal where we work, so there is a dire need build waste management systems to mitigate the impact of waste pollution, especially plastics, in this eco-sensitive region and further downhill into major Indian rivers. Waste Warriors now has over 80 staff, including formalized waste workers, working to build sustainable waste management models in the urban sprawl of Dehradun, in the tourist hills of Dharamshala, by the Ganga river in holy Rishikesh, and in forest villages around Corbett Tiger Reserve near Ramnagar and Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi.We focus on community behavioural change, waste infrastructure development, collaborations with government bodies, and the upliftment and livelihood development of all waste workers.

Established in 2012 as a public charitable trust, People For Animals Uttarakhand (PFA Uttarakhand) is a chapter of its parent organization i.e. People For Animals. In particular, PFA Uttarakhand is the legal and policy wing of People For Animals. Being an inherent part of India’s largest animal protection organization, the organizational mandate of People For Animals Uttarakhand has evolved to encompass capacity building, public policy &amp; advocacy for greater animal protection, public awareness as well as sheltering.Through PFA Uttarakhand’s continued efforts of working closely with the Central Government and various State Governments, it has achieved certain significant milestones in the field of animal welfare. Capacity building of law enforcement and judicial agencies (such as Police and Magistrate Sensitization Workshops) constitute a core aspect of our work towards sensitizing administrative personnel about the cause of animal welfare and further strengthening the animal protection framework in India. This has paved the way for a regime of positive laws and policies in favour of protecting animals.  The organizational spirit of direct action work on the ground in terms of service to animals manifests itself through a dedicated People For Animals Uttarakhand Sanctuary for rescued animals called Happy Homes Sanctuary. Located in Chharba in Sahaspur Block of Dehradun District of Uttarakhand and spread across 7 bighas, the shelter provides sanctuary and treatment to species that have no other housing space in any Government or private facility in Uttarakhand. The organization also provides free service to animals brought to the Sanctuary by volunteers. PFA Uttarakhand uses the Happy Home Sanctuary to provide training to Veterinary Officers of the Animal Husbandry Department and Local Authorities in Uttarakhand, for treatment and care of equines and small animals to prevent outbreaks of zoonotic and communicable diseases. The Sanctuary is currently home to felines, equines &amp; caprines which have been rescued from conditions of cruelty and neglect. Funds and resources have been utilized with the single-minded focus of providing the animals with succour and sanctuary. The organization is currently setting benchmarks to create mandatory minimum standards for the care of small animals, especially domestic cats, for which there is no dedicated space available anywhere else.

Balajee Sewa Sansthan is a non-profit Organization committed to working for overall development of marginal people like economic self-sufficiency, through various initiatives. The organization’s head office is located at Subhash Nagar, Dehradun . Balajee Sewa Sansthan is the rural outreach, providing direct and indirect services in the districts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. With over 1.5 million schools and 250 million students, the Indian school education system is one of the largest in the world. With 84.71% of the 1.5 million schools in India being rural, remote, tribal schools, the limited quality of education and lack of access to educational resources continue to remain a huge challenge.In 2018, we started traveling to and living with Tribal, rural, and forest communities in Uttarakhand. As part of our experiences and conversations with people, the need for education was highlighted. We started to work in a Forest school in the Mohand range of Shivalik forest adjacent to Rajaji National Park. In 2020 we reached out to rehabilitated forest zones for pastoral nomadic communities. I started working with govt schools in the area in 2021. We have been consistently enabling community youth, especially girls. Today we have a total of 20 community youth engaged with us as team members, fellows, and volunteers. We have created local language material and also stories of the communities. We have set up 5 libraries in total across the public schools with daily sessions for children. The learning kits, projects, and teaching learning materials have been contextualised.
