NANRITAM is a non-profit social welfare organization (Registration No. S/11/8102 of 2001-02 under Society Registration Act 1961) started in 2002 by a few like-minded professionals who had one common inspiration to guide them - Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of service to mankind. The organization had started working with a small community of slum dwellers in North Kolkata in 2001 through a small, health care unit. Though the scale was small the approach was to make the services as comprehensible as was possible, given its limited means in the early days. In 2004 Nanritam started working in the rural Para Block of Purulia district which has, over the years, become the principal centre of most of its activities. Nanritam now operates from its headquarters at Barandanga Village in Para Block, Purulia where the entire executive committee is full-time resident. This campus at present also hosts a 100- member resident workforce. This team, along with another 140 field workers selected from the community for its community outreach activities, supports the organization’s work in the backward districts of Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Medinipur in West Bengal. He also set up the Blind boys’ Academy in Naredrapur that has excelled as one of the leading institutions for the blind in the whole of Asia.During his tenure at Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata, Swami Lokeswaranandaji diversified the activities of the Institute and made it an International Cultural Centre recognized globally as an institution par excellence. They grew up with this inspiration, sharing the idea with others, and finally made the leap of faith in the next decade with the support of accomplished professionals in India and the US, and followers of SriRamakrishna Paramahansa.The doctors who serve: The best doctors in the state services in this eye hospital. It started with committed doctors making the overnight journey from Howrah to Anara in Howrah Chakradhapur Passenger, performing the surgeries during the day at the hospital, and returning in another overnight journey. When some of these doctors retired, they moved to Para, to serve their full time. Thus this eye hospital is blessed with the best doctors in the region, some full time, some part-time, thanks to the blessings of the Divine Mother. Many of them are former or current practitioners at Sankara Nethralaya, B B Eye Foundation, Narayana Nethralaya, Apollo Gleaneaggles and others. There are 21 doctors in all – five in the Vitreo Retina department, 14 in Anterior Segment, and 2 physicians. Mr Dilip Ghosh, former Health secretary, West Bengal, also serves the mission.LEF is equipped with some sophisticated instruments and in the process of constructing two Modular OTs. The costly instruments are procured from Individual Donors or from CSR funds of Corporates / PSUs. In some cases Machines procured by availing Interest-free loans from the supplier companies.&gt; FILIX SCHOOL OF EDUCATION: Over the years, English has emerged as the language of choice for commerce, economic growth and social mobility. Teaching their children quality 'English' has emerged as one of the top expectations of the majority of parents. Filix School of Education is Nanritam’s response to this hugely felt need enabling the children of Mamata the maid, Sipu the attendant, Dasarath the farmer, Nagar the cook, and many of their ilk to obtain quality education in English medium side by side with children from economically less disadvantaged families. The school has set forth its journey in April 2014 with three pre-school classes: Nursery, KG I, KG II and 70 students in total. Filix believes that Each child has a unique way of exploring the world around them, a distinct process of acquiring knowledge and a unique individual style of interacting with people around them. This makes every single child special in his/her own way. Our aim is to appreciate the uniqueness of each child and provide them with adequate support and space to bloom. The total students' strength is 600 plus from Nursery to STD VIII. The school got the CBSE affiliation in 2020 up to Secondary Level. &gt;NANRITAM KRISHI KENDRA ( AN AGRICULTURE UNIT ): Nanritam had realised that along with health and education the community needed to be supported for better livelihood options too, and this led to the creation of an agriculture wing in 2010 involving 70 farmers in 6 villages. The numbers in the following years have swelled, and the Krishi Kendra now works with a much larger number of farmers covering a few districts. &gt;UDBHAAS: Nanritam also has a unit for improving the life quality of developmentally challenged children through Integrated Care by an interdisciplinary team (UDBHAAS ) to help these children realise their full potentiality.

Sabuj Sangha is a non-government civil society organization working in an integrated and sustainable approach towards the betterment of the lives of disadvantaged communities in West Bengal, India. It adopts a participatory process and focuses on the empowerment of local communities, especially women. Sabuj Sangha evolved out of a social club initiated in 1954 in the village of Nandakumarpur in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. In the initial years, Sabuj Sangha became involved in local efforts to enhance the wellbeing of communities living in the region. In 1975, the organisation was registered under West Bengal Society Registration Act, 1961. Since then, it has grown into a state-level organisation working intensively in three districts in development programmes and continuously expanding its reach in terms of geography and focus areas. It addresses a wide range of interlinked developmental issues faced by poverty stricken communities and their children. The organization is also registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976, Section 12A &amp; 80G of Income Tax Act 1961; empanelled with NITI Ayog, Government of India, National CSR Hub of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and accredited by Credibility Alliance.The organisation has grown significantly since, spreading North throughout South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, East Medinipur and into Alipurduar district also Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation &amp; Kolkata Municipal Corporation of West Bengal. Our Vision is to secure a society where all people enjoy equal rights and access to equal opportunities. Our Mission is the sustainable development of marginalized and vulnerable people to improve quality of life through empowerment, education, information, infrastructure development, healthcare provision and economic self-reliance through convergence of services provided by local self-governments.

Sabuj Sangha

PARIVAAR - AN OVERVIEW (<a href="http://parivaar.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">parivaar.org</a>)Founded in 2003 in West Bengal.Awarded the 2011 National Award for Child Welfare, by the Hon. President of India. West Bengal In Bengal, Parivaar has 2 residential institutions for children (both boys and girls) from vulnerable and poor backgrounds. With more than 1800 children, these are the largest free residential institutions for children from such backgrounds in West Bengal.  Madhya Pradesh 1. Seva Kutirs (Education &amp; Nutrition) : More than 50,000 poor tribal children being provided with good quality supplementary education along with nutritious meals daily. As on date there are 681 Seva Kutirs in operation in as many very poor &amp; remote tribal villages across 15 districts.One Seva Kutir with about 100 children costs Rs 10 lakhs annually , i.e. Rs 10,000 annual per child cost. 2. Four Residential Institutions in Madhya Pradesh - 2 for Boys in Dewas and Mandla districts, and 2 for girls in Sehore and Mandla districts - totalling around 900 children. These are expected to be scaled up year after year.Annual per child cost is about Rs 40,000.  3. Ambulances : 129 Ambulances in tribal areas of 25 districts working 24*7. In the last 20 months, these have served about 1.70 lakh cases.Running 1 ambulance costs us about Rs 7 lakhs annually, serving more than 1000 persons.  4. Vision Restoration - More than 3.92 lakh persons served with general examination, medicines and glasses in more than 2600 eye camps organized in tribal and other rural areas. Out of this, more than 47,000 persons operated for cataract and other eye ailments and their vision has been fully restored. We have covered 34 districts in MP &amp; 1 district each in Uttar Pradesh &amp; Rajasthan in this project Within Rs 1500, 1 eye surgery plus 8 persons' general examination, medicines &amp; glasses is done.  5. Mobile Health Clinics : Running 16 Daily Mobile Health Clinics with doctors in remote and poor areas of 9 districts, which have treated and provided free medicines to more than 6.75 lakh persons in the last 21 months. Patients with severity are taken to higher medical centres as far as AIIMS Delhi, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Gwalior. 1 Mobile Health Clinic costs about Rs 18 lakhs, which serves about 35,000 persons, thus Rs 52 per person cost.  The Projects run by Parivaar are the largest of their kind in India, providing meals and education to more than 50 thousand poor children &amp; serving lakhs of poor tribal persons through its various health projects as outlined above.  Parivaar spent around Rs 76 Cr on all its projects in FY 2021-22. Parivaar has a workforce of 4400 fulltimers called Sevavratees.  Recent Prestigious Awards Conferred on Parivaar(i) 'Madhya Pradesh Gaurav Samman' - State's Highest Honour, was conferred on Parivaar. This is an apex honour instituted by Madhya Pradesh for the first time in the history of the state.  We were chosen for our work in Health and Nutrition. The award was presented by Hon. Governor and Chief Minister on 7th November.(ii) "Social Leadership Award 2022" in the Education category presented by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. There were 4 categories (including Education in which we received the honour) for which winners were selected out of a pool of 47 organisations. This award was given on 26th November.

Turnstone Global – a not-for-profit voluntary Organisation – is engaged in providing Comprehensive Empowerment to underprivileged sections of the society. The Organisation firmly believes that a holistic approach is necessary to obtain overall development of the society. Hence, unlike most other NGOs, who work in specific fields, Turnstone Global provides a diverse range of services to its beneficiaries. Jabala Action Research Organisation

Over the past 13 years, Anudip has been recognized globally for its unique technology-driven initiative to train and empower more than 100,000 underserved Indian youth thereby touching over 425,000 needy people. Anudip’s target market comprises of youth and women from communities of migrants, political refugees, reformed insurgents, impoverished families below poverty levels, rescued victims of trafficking and persons with disabilities, religious and ethnic minorities and tribals. Anudip’s intervention programs are designed to assist such youth step out of the generational poverty trap, often riddled with large debts, and shield them from social evils like crime, drugs, human trafficking, insurgency and early marriage. Programs such as DIYA, SAVE, BEST and IMPACT focus exclusively on developing employability and entrepreneurship skills for these marginalized youth which gives them a chance to earn sustainable wages, triple their family incomes, and reap the long-term benefits of working in a structured environment. Through these digital livelihoods programs, Anudip has provided job placement services to over 55,000 youth in the digital economy jobs and set up over 200 micro-entrepreneurship co-operatives for marginalized women from remote locations of India, helping beneficiaries access needs such as healthcare services, siblings’ education and create financial savings for themselves and their family. This new found financial stability has enabled them to enhance their purchasing power which in turn contributes towards their community’s prosperity. Anudip has developed and incorporated innovative ideas and technologies to improve the efficiency of its programs, back-office systems and internal learning tools to achieve its mission. Anudip has set up a separate corporate placement cell with strategic relationships with 200+ IT-enabled-services and e-Commerce employers, including leading brands like Tech Mahindra, Amazon, TCS, Flipkart, and Walmart.Examples of Anudip innovations using technology include:1.     Leveraging crowdsourced online tasks that earn revenue for livelihoods for rescued victims of sex trafficking. These women begin with low levels of education and self-esteem, but are able to perform graphics- and image-related tasks online to earn a sustainable income as a co-operative2.     Using the benefits of rapidly evolving 3D Printing technology to offer lightweight, low-flexible and customizable 3D-printed prosthetic arms at scale for needy amputees. Also deploying brain-signal sensors to actuate motors in these arms to provide a prosthetic experience on par with natural arms.Anudip’s Learning and Development (L&amp;D) training tools and resources allow student mobilizers to upskill themselves as Market Executives (MEs), and act as an effective ambassadors of the organization, gain in-depth knowledge of market advances, conduct seminars and workshop in schools, colleges and community centers, and answer queries about job placement services and career opportunities. This facility has resulted in rapidly increasing enrollment at Anudip in the face of growing competition.On average, a Anudip graduate earns on average $120 per month i.e. $1440 annually upon being placed in entry level jobs. Family incomes of our students are on average, $1428 per year in urban areas and $1000 per year in rural locations. Thus when an Anudip graduate starts earning, there is an immediate increase in family income of 100% for urban beneficiaries and 143% for rural beneficiaries. This has a major transformative impact on their families, lifting them from a life of poverty to one of dignity and hope.

About Ek Tara:Ek Tara is a registered charitable trust that aims to enhance the quality of life for girls and women in urban slum communities near Kolkata's eastern fringes. Its primary goal is to provide high-quality educational opportunities and capacity-building initiatives, empowering individuals to lead dignified lives.Ek Tara comprises two distinct spaces: the Ek Tara Learning Centre and the Ek Tara Community Centre. The former is a safe and nurturing learning environment equipped with well-resourced classrooms, digital teaching tools, and an integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) Laboratory. It also houses the Tomorrowland Foundation Music and Arts School. ELC reaches out to 1200 children daily and also looks into their health, hygiene and nutritional requirements as well.The latter focuses on programming geared towards the economic empowerment and social mobility of women, running vocational training and income generation initiatives, and creating resources to further Ek Tara's mission.The organization has recently partnered with the Kolkata Municipal Education Department to transform primary schools into model schools, providing improved infrastructure, foundational numeracy and literacy, and digital learning for overall child development.
