Monkey Sports is a rural-based non-profit organization that provides access to sport for children through inclusion, safe and fun ways to improve their mental and physical well-being. In the last 5 years, we have worked with 2500 children in 3 different states (in remote geographies), and through our work, we have been able to improve children’s behavioral problems and educational outcomes.

DWAR DEVELOPMENT WHEEL AGAINST RECESSION FOUNDATION

Diksha Foundation offers holistic education to children and youth from socially and economically marginalized communities in India. Since 2010, Diksha’s movement has been towards creating “transformative learning spaces for children”. Our idea of education is not confined to literacy alone, we focus on the holistic education of children by looking at the social, creative, and moral development of each student. Holistic education stresses on the overall development of an individual which includes core academics, emotional development, social skills with civic understanding, critical thinking skills, conflict resolution skills, personality development, and knowledge about self. While seeking to educate the whole person the basic three R’s of Relationships, Responsibility, and Reverence for all life, are taken into consideration. We believe that education is a journey of self-discovery, self-love, and self-esteem and that it is a process of change from within, a change in one’s habits and worldviews and one’s relationships and responsibilities with the community.Last year our world was caught off guard when a deadly pandemic struck in the form of COVID - 19. Throughout last year we have tried to strengthen our community with safety and personal hygiene, COVID-19 awareness and necessarry precautions we need to take in order to safeguard the community. The pandemic did not only present itself as a major health risk but also threatened the livelihoods of people. The worst hit sector due to the lockdown to resist the virus, was the unorganized sector throughout the world. In Patna, Bihar most of our students families lost their livelihoods for several months due to continued lockdown. Ins such situation, Diksha Foundation tried to reach out to our students through telephone. We offered them tele counseling to help through the lockdown. We initisated the Annapurna campaign through which we provided ration kits to the families of our students. The ration kit contained all the necessary items that were required to sustain a family for the month. We continue the campaign under the name of Aushadhi - Annapurna Campaign which has been extended to cover medical kits, oxygen necessities along with ration kits of the COVID -19 patients.So far we have been able to distribute these kits to over 1500 families in Patna and Hilsa so far. In further attempts, we have extended our KHEL facilities to ensure our students are never away from learning. Our libraries are open so that students could issue books for reading.

About DVAS: Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) founded on 18th June 1992 is working towards empowerment of marginalized communities and group’s i.e. Dalit’s, Women, Children and other economically and socially deprived sections of society, over the last 30 years in Bihar through addressing factors of exclusion and advancement of their entitlements. The organization believes in its developmental model attenuated for increased participation of marginalized communities through various enabling strategies and programs such towards ensuring socio- economic transformation and dignity through access to quality education, health services and livelihood options. The way to effective empowerment is one hinging on and oriented towards evolving autonomous community based organizations endowed with capabilities required for the actualization of a spirit of self- determination and self-reliance. Further community based organizations have strategic networking relationships in all the target areas under the banner of BCHR and DVAS facilitators to work as per Executive Committee Resolutions and direction. A frontal organization with an avowed aim to facilitate issue based interventions from time to time. We educate, we organize and we struggle for our rights.WORKING METHODOLOGY OF DVAS:Director is taking care of and is responsible for the success of the programmes assigned to each staff member. He conducts one to one meeting and monitors the ongoing project. A monthly meeting is held where all staff members are required to be present. From a volunteer to a field worker to programme coordinator to director there is close interaction and all the members of DVAS are well aware to there responsibilities. Since we work for our people there is total involvement and sincerity. Work responsibility is explained to all concerned staff by director and programme coordinator and monthly evaluation helps us find solution to all assigned task.

Since 2007, Sanmat also known as Sri Someswar Nath Mahadev Trust founded by IDS, University of Sussex, UK, Alumni and LKY School of Public Policy, NUS, Singapore and has been working for inclusive development in India by bringing government to citizen. We focus on bridging governance gaps in the execution of various Government &amp; Non Governmental programs for the marginalized communities with the aim to reach the last person. The deplorable condition of future lot of society (The infant and growing children) who were loitering and wasting their lives, attracted the attention of few social worker &amp; Nobilities’, who resolved to do something for such lot and this idea led to birth of Action For Development of Demos (ADD) Society in the year 2000 and got its registration under The Society Registration Act 21, 1860 on 9th Feb, 2004 as well as under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. The society no doubt has reached to its youth from infancy by delivering more and more happiness to the Poor Marginalized Group of Society and wishes to expand its effort further. Since its inception organization has been working with the most-neglected, oppressed and downtrodden section of the society for implementing all the Welfare Programmes for Poor people. Currently ADD is actively working in fields of Education, Sanitation, Poverty, Healthy Delivery for Poor Women, Environment Awareness, Health, Old age, etc. All these with a goal and vision to ‘’Establish a healthy society of worthy individuals free from discrimination or exploitation by bringing awareness in the field of education, health and raising the economic condition of poor and helpless  men, women and children."It is highly determined for “Establishing a Self-sustained society where everyone would enjoy equal opportunity, with equitable sharing of resources ensuring social justice for all and everybody would be leading a harmonious life.”Geographical outreach of the organization spreads over 4 districts of Bihar namely Patna, Nalanda, Nawadah and Gaya.

WHO WE AREThe OrganisationShoshit Seva Sangh (SSS) is a non-profit charitable organisation registered as a trust that operates Shoshit Samadhan Kendra, a CBSE-affiliated kindergarten to class XII English-medium residential school in Patna on an over 2 acre campus, where more than 550 children from the underserved musahar community receive free education, boarding, lodging, clothing, nutrition and healthcare.The TrusteesThe Board of SSS comprises eleven Trustees with diverse backgrounds, of which nine are independents. They represent a wealth of experience cutting across sectors, including that of heading various storied non-profits, chairing a major philanthropic foundation, heading the Asia-Pacific corporate sustainability function at a Fortune Global 500 company, senior roles in the banking, finance and insurance industries, a partner of a marketing &amp; communications firm, a senior creative executive at a leading media company, a successful entrepreneur, a former police officer, an eminent surgeon, a practising chartered accountant, and two senior lawyers.Legal &amp; ComplianceSSS was registered as a trust under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 on 16 July 2014 with registration number 5029. The organisation is also registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 with FCRA registration number 031170390 in terms of letter no. II/21022/63(0068)/2007-FCRA-II dated 15 January 2008 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The accounts of Shoshit Seva Sangh are audited annually by a reputed firm of Chartered Accountants. The Income Tax Returns as well as FCRA returns are filed regularly and promptly with the concerned government authorities. 2. WHAT WE DOTransformative change through quality educationMusahars are primarily bonded landless agricultural labourers who are forced to live under abysmal conditions in designated ghettoes on the outskirts of the villages of Bihar. One of the most marginalised communities in India, their population is estimated to be around 3.5 million. The adults often go without work for as long as eight months in a year and the children usually work alongside their parents in the fields or as rag-pickers, earning as little as ₹25-30 ($0.35-0.40) a day. The literacy rate among musahars is less than 3%, and most of them live below the poverty line. Government welfare measures have unfortunately not trickled down to them, causing many to be caught in a debt trap and thus incapable of escaping from the vicious cycle of poverty.The project had a modest start, with only 4 students in 2006. In a matter of 10 years, however, we acquired our own land and building as well as received full CBSE accreditation shortly thereafter. Currently, we house, clothe, feed and educate over 550 children. Students are admitted in kindergarten, and are drawn from the remotest villages of Bihar, representing every district of the state.3. WHY WE DO ITOur Founder, Our Vision &amp; Our OutcomesOur founder, the late Jyotinivas Kumar Sinha (1944-2021), was a decorated IPS officer who upon retiring as Special Secretary to the Government of India established SSS with the aim of using quality education as a tool to empower young minds and create catalysts of change for transforming the musahar community. In 2019, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the President of India for his pioneering social work.Our students have a 100% pass rate in the externally invigilated CBSE board exams, and our alumni include teachers, lawyers, engineers as well as students currently studying at Lafayette College (USA), Ashoka University, Ahmedabad University and Azim Premji University. Our efforts are beginning to have a cascading effect, and we are hopeful that we will be able to change the very profile of the musahar community in the next few decades.This is the silent revolution that SSS aspires to deliver.

The findings of the problems were so acute and intense that they could not be dealt with in a shorter period of time without joint efforts.
