Women play a pivotal role in the development of any nation as she is an all encompassing circle of life. Within her lies the power to create, to nurture and to transform and empowering her is equivalent to empowering generations. It is with this thought and belief that Swadhar was founded in Mumbai in 1983 by Late Prof. Meenakshi Apte along with social activist Late Mrunal Gore. With profound social work being done in Mumbai, Meenakshi Tai decided to replicate the effort in Pune and Swadhar- Pune was established in 1995 as a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) with membership open to all.Initially, the core focus of Swadhar was to help women in distress irrespective of their caste, religion, community or financial status. In 1998 Swadhar added childcare under its umbrella and became Swadhar IDWC (Institute for Development of Women and Children). So apart from addressing women centric issues, we also began working towards the education, health-care and overall development of disadvantaged children with special emphasis on a girl-child.Swadhar, true to its name, is working relentlessly towards creating self-reliant women &amp; children by empowering them with knowledge about their rights, thus enabling them to lead a dignified life. We are now also on an upward curve headed for resolution of issues of a family as one unit.

Sant Ishwar Foundation is managed by Army veterans. It has created 'Ghar' in a specially designed seven-storey building to house orphan/marginalised girls, paralysed women and the elderly all under one roof and empowers them through quality education/skilling, mainstreaming them and making them productive members of society while enhancing quality of life of the elderly. Girls are provided quality education and all other facilities that are needed to make them realise their full potential and to become capable to participate and compete in all activities. Paralysed women who are wheelchair-mobile will be provided skill training, healthy nutrition, healthcare and numerous facilities. Our objective is to make them confident, independent and productive members of society and to empower and mainstream them.Ghar is the creation of a joint family with three generations - daughters, mothers and grandparents and their bonding as we have in our own families.  We help create meaningful, purposeful and fulfilling lives for our orphan/marginalised girls for them to learn how to use that to impact and make a difference in the lives of others in times to come.The trust also supports the education of marginalised non-resident children and conducts awareness campaigns and workshops on child protection and on aspects of humanity.

SANT ISHWAR FOUNDATION

SOHAM Trust is primarily working with a mission to provide health care to the needy and poor communities focusing mainly on elderly beggars. Trust is also working to achieve the physical, mental, and economic sustainability of beggars. Our main objective is to make these beggars entrepreneurs and citizens of India. All this work is done with the help of donations we receive. Following the work we are doing and continue the same with the funds received from Give India1. Beggars to Entrepreneurs:  While providing medical services on the road, we try to identify the potential/skills of the person and based on this, we convince and counsel them to start small-scale jobs. To date, 200 beggars have left begging and started small-scale businesses / various jobs. In short, beggars have started becoming entrepreneurs!2. Medical help to people lying on the road helplessly -v Hospitalisation - Giving medical help to the people lying on the roadside by hospitalizing them in reputed hospitals. More than 360 people were admitted during this year. This includes cases of accident/cancer/ orthopedic/ Gynaec and so on. Upon treatment offered to start small-scale businesses to them. v Eye Check-up / Operation - This year we completed 1500 cataract operations. Nearly 300 elderly beggars have been given glasses after eye examination. If the person is unable to see, it is the major barrier to starting self-employment, also due to this disability they get into accidents or die while crossing the road...! Hence we are trying to save accidents/deaths and giving chance to make them sustainable with this initiative. v Hearing check-up / Machine – Hearing loss is another major barrier to self-employment as well as a reason of accidents. Hence we are regularly doing audiometry in reputed clinics and giving them hearing machines that have lost the capacity of hearing. This again opens a path towards self-employment as well as sustainability. Given high-quality audio machines to 3 elderly beggars.3. Annapurna Through the Annapurna project, we are delivering a food box to all the poor destitute patients who are undergoing treatment in the hospital, and who have no relatives, or no one in their life to bring them a food box. Apart from this, we are also giving tiffins to the elderly people who are lying on the streets. We are daily feeding approx. 100 poor people. We are buying these tiffins from a disabled beggar's family, who were earlier begging, so as to give financial support to the disabled family. 4. Education:The trust has taken educational responsibility for 52 Children under our cover. They are given all the help they need to get an education and stop begging. The Children in this group include kids studying in the primary to even those studying for graduation like B.Com. four success storiesOne girl is doing BCom, aspiring to become a collector, the second boy is doing third yr Computer Science, the third girl is doing Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and the fourth boy wants to become a Police Sub Inspector. We are paying for their training.5. COMMUNITY CLEANLINESS TEAM)Teams of 100 elder beggars were formed. The trust organizes cleanliness drives in public places through these teams. The trust gives remuneration to these people. This helps them get a dignified way of work. Also elaborates on the importance of cleanliness in personal and public places. It’s a Win-Win situation….We are providing either honorarium or grocery to this team as compensation… Overall we are trying to do things to make the beggars live with dignity and as citizens of India.

The Poona Blind Men’s Association (PBMA), was establish in 1952, and is the second largest, “not-for-profit organisation”, rendering valuable humanitarian service to the visually impaired, through a wide network of activities, covering the entire spectrum of rehabilitation, such as prevention of blindness, education &amp; vocational training for the visually impaired young boys &amp; girls and care of the aged visually impaired people.Our organization is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, XXIX of 1950 and the Societies Registration Act of 1860. SAMPARC was started in 1990 by Shri. Amitkumar Banerjee and Mrs. Lata Pande in a mud house with 7 children at footsteps of Bhaje caves. Shri. Amitkumar Banerjee has been working with children village project for care of orphan children and he realized that not only orphan children but also other children like children of commercial sex workers, street children, other victim children or neglected children also need care. Today, 650 orphan and needy children from, 9 SAMPARC centers in India at Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Gujarat are under the rehabilitation programme. SAMPARC aims to provide standard education to these children which will help them to use it like passport for their future growth and development. In 1998 SAMPARC children’s home (orphanage) Bhaje has received “National Child Welfare Award” by Government of India at the hands of the president of India Hon. Shri K.R. Narayanan

Out of the 400 million child population in India, less than half of them go to school. Out of the very few underprivileged students who manage to go to secondary school, at least 50% of boys and 58% of girls drop out of school owing to financial pressure. About the Organization:The Vi Educational Foundation a section 8 charitable organization with 80G and 12A, was founded in 2018 to provide the best quality education to underprivileged students to excel in their performance in academics as well as to attain their overall growth to succeed and become independent. All the services provided are FREE of cost to the students as well as to the school.In the first six years of our operations, we provided extra coaching to 1500+ students across 5 schools in std VIII, IX, and X in Maths, Science, and English. SSC board exam performance in all these schools has dramatically improved with over 20% of students getting 80% and above marks.How we work: The Vi Educational Foundation partners with schools that have a large number of students from underprivileged backgrounds. We provide extra coaching in Science, Math, English, and communication skills for students from VIII, IX, and X standards. Students are regularly assessed and those showing very good progress are further pushed to achieve higher marks. Other students are given extra coaching for them to progress and achieve better results. This ensures personal attention and focus on individual growth. These lessons are delivered by our tutors who have been selected not only for their exceptional knowledge of their subjects but also for their passion for working as teachers. Regular tests are conducted to monitor the progress of each student and necessary corrective actions are taken. Wherever needed extra study material is provided to the students.We invite academic and professional experts from various fields to speak with students to give them exposure to various possible career options and how to go about it. They also help motivate the students to achieve their dreams. Students who successfully pass the board exams continue to stay in touch with us for educational/career guidance or any other help they need in the future.Beyond Xth standard students going to science are tutored to achieve high scores in their XII standard board exams so that they can qualify to apply for various scholarships for graduate education and beyond.
