CMTNS is a non-profit, registered under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act, 1975 in 2012 in Coimbatore District, Tamilnadu, India. Since its formation as an informal group of transgender communities in the year 2007, it has been working with the vision that “Trans communities everywhere live a dignified and quality life”. The mission of the organization is “Ensuring Transgender, and MSM communities enjoy basic human rights, have access to health care, education, economic development and participation in mainstream development programmes”. CMTNS has a membership of 1700, and the key activities are Reducing stigma and discrimination: spreading awareness for trans communities, sensitization of service providers and bureaucrats; Health: Prevention, Treatment and Promotion on health aspects through awareness, access to health services, linkages and referral; Entitlement facilitation: facilitation of civic identities to make them eligible for govt. Schemes, facilitation of entitlements on education, employment, economic and other govt. welfare program; Policy and Advocacy: sensitization of policy makers and implementers on the ground realities of issues concerning eligibility norms, rights denial etc.; representation in networks and advocacy forums VISION &amp; MISSION: Empowering the most vulnerable transgender in society by ensuring their socio-economic development, Equal rights, and gaining social recognition.
