Computer Shiksha is an 80G, 12A certified and FCRA approved non-profit organization, working towards enabling computer literacy among the under-served communities. Computer Shiksha helps provide free computer literacy for the under-served at schools, where students are already regularly attending classes. We don’t just provide computers, but deliver a complete package including video course-ware, training, monitoring, evaluation, free lifetime maintenance support and certification. And, all of our services come free as a pay back to society.Delivery Model: We enable partner schools to conduct classes by  Enabling teachers with resources in the form of self-learning videos to facilitate classes. The entire set of Self Learning Videos in 7 languages. Viz. Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali and Oriya complete with the teachers' manual available on the Computer Shiksha website /YouTube link for free download.  Enabling teachers with a rigorous 8 days training by which even a 12th standard pass person who may have never seen a computer in life can become a computer trainer and repair almost 90% of h/w and s/w problems  Supporting schools in arranging the required hardware (computers, projectors etc.)  Enabling and supporting schools to maintain all hardware  Evaluating students to certify them.

These are the districts that are lagging in most socio-economic indicators and were earlier called backward districts. We've successfully started the Computer Literacy program in 100% of aspirational districts in some states like UP, UK, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, with at least 1 school in each district. Our goal is to reach all 112 Aspirational districts in 2 years’ time. Currently, we're present in 55 aspirational districts. Most of Schools/ NGOs / SHGs working in education sector for the underprivileged are able to teach Hindi, English and Maths and other subjects as required but fail to provide a credible computer education. and this has been seen across the institutions. The major pain points for them to deliver computer education are as follows1. arranging appropriate and sufficient hardware for the purpose2. Maintain this hardware 3. Find the correct course (govt course is only theoretical and has no industry relevance)4. Find the right person who can deliver computer education. If someone knows enough to teach well, why would he/she work in an NGO environment and not in industry, where he/she will be paid much better5.assess the students 
 Computer Shiksha is addressing all these pain points and creating an enabling ecosystem by1. providing 2nd hand hardware free of cost2. Maintaining this hardware if anything goes wrong3. Designed a practical course covering MS paint, MS Office (Open office), Internet, emails4. Created Self Learning videos (in Hindi right now, other languages to follow) that deliver the computer education with minimal human intervention. Human intervention is to be in the form of managing the videos5. Train the school trainers who will do this video management and the person can be an 8th standard pass, who will be trained for 8 days by CS6. assessing the students periodically7. Certifying studentsCurrently we are adding 1000+ students monthly to the computer education course. To take it to our stated level of 20000 students per month so as to achieve our target of One million kids by 2020,, we need to raise our funding level of current 3.5 lacs per month to Rs. 70 lacs per month. Hence for the year we need to raise Rs. 8.4 crores 
 Impact which was anticipated and planned was smooth, credible and effective delivery of computer education where earlier it was just not possible. we have already trained 768 students and have right now 2600+ students undergoing computer education at more than 28 centres at Gurgaon, Delhi, Rajatshan, U.P. and Punjab the students number on roll for this would be 5000+ by 31st March 2017 and will cross 13000 by Dec 2017The unintended impact that we had not planned or anticipated were as follows increase of self confidence and assurance in children undergoing computer course improvement in the attendance on the days computer classes are held compared to other days of the week attracting more and more students, after computer course is introdcued

Computer Education for the under served

A lot of people talk about the digital knowledge gap between rural and urban areas, and to bridge that gap, we came up with a thought of offering computer literacy programs as a service to schools that are already successfully engaging with communities but do not have the assets, and resource capabilities to produce an effective digital literacy program. We aim to combat one of the troubling features of education inequality by providing technological access for the underprivileged children. Thus, we are looking at promoting computer literacy through self-learning videos. 
 The model followed by CS provides an ecosystem for schools, NGOs and SHGs partners by providing them with 2nd hand hardware, maintenance of computer systems, and self-learning videos for delivering computer education in 7 regional languages, including Hindi and English. The action plan includes the following:<ul><li>Identifying and evaluating a school</li><li>Training the trainers</li><li>Arranging for computer hardware</li><li>Launching Computer Classes</li><li>Lifetime maintenance support for hardware and software</li><li>Assessment Support</li><li>Module wise certification</li></ul>

Bridging the Digital divide among the Under-served

We in India face a tremendous range of unmet needs related to health, education, food security and energy use. Having made considerable strides in improving access, efforts are now being made to improve the quality of education in India. As of the 2001 Census, there are more than 400 million school-age children that reside in the nation. Household surveys on economic status suggest that the majority of these children’s families are not able to afford the costs of obtaining an adequate education provided by the private sector. These disparities, driven by class, caste and regional disparities are one of the greatest challenges that the country will need to address in the 21st century. This presents a serious challenge for those trying to change the status quo. The numbers are often disheartening and too large for any one individual or organization to begin to address.  As per NSSO 2014 data, there are 334 million children of the age group 5 to 16, corresponding to class I to Class XII,And it seems that total no of children that can be estimated to be without any access or exposure to computers would be approx. 298 million.And even if one were to be wrong in these assumptions, it wouldn’t matter much, as few percent deviations. Still lead to large numbers. Today in India, in almost all jobs, computers are used and hence an exposure to computers and its handling and being familiar with Word, Excel etc. is an absolute must to be considered for any job.  In addition, all Government schemes designed to help the under-served communities are available online but the people who need these the most are the ones who don’t have access to computers or their knowledge. Another important factor which needs to be kept in mind is that in earlier times, if one was familiar with computers usage, then jobs were guaranteed, if nothing else then as data entry operators. But with advent of AI and new technologies, these jobs have almost vanished. And so Computer Literacy has shifted from an employability factor to a hygiene factor for almost all jobs. This means that if one knew about computers usage, one may not be guaranteed a job, but, if one didn’t know computers, then there will be almost no job available.Our concern is how are we going to provide Computer Literacy to all? In schools!When ? Now!! Computer Literacy can be defined as the ability to use computers, to access and understand information, create information and communicate information.  
 Our Vision is to bridge the divide between “haves” and “have-nots” using technology. Launch of Computer Classes 6. Life Time Maintenance support for hardware and software 7. Assessment Support 8. Certification Computer Refurbishment Centre: Computer Shiksha (CS) also set up a Warehouse cum Refurbishment Centre with a processing capacity of 600 to 1000 computers a month. The old laptops and desktops received from individuals / Corporates are repaired / refurbished at this centre. CS Helpline: To provide support to schools, set up a CS helpline with telephone and WhatsApp Video facility to resolve all complaints related to course, assessment, certification, hardware &amp; software problems. Additional Resources: Self-learning videos to facilitate classes. Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali and Oriya complete with the teachers' manual available on the Computer Shiksha website /YouTube link for free download. Our Achievements: As on beginning August 2022, our services has reached to  125000+ students…….and growing!  700+ Computer Shiksha enabled computer labs in 700+ schools  8500+ computers in 16 states being provided free life time maintenance support, with a free replacement whenever required  16 states viz., Assam, U.P., M.P., Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Kerala, West Bengal, J&amp;K and Karnataka  1575+ teachers have been trained to teach students using Computer Shiksha content  37500+ students certified on our courses 
 We are working with a focus on #SDG4 Quality Education for All. Students from under-served communities who may have otherwise never even got to see a computer are : 	-Becoming familiar with computers 	-Gain confidence to work on computers 	-The initial phases of this project make them familiar with Paint and Office tools like word processing Besides the children, Computer Shiksha impacts the families and community from where these children come.Students undergo exams after every module which involves an 'On Computer Exercise' in a class room environment followed by a paper-pen based written MCQ test, checked at two levels. Our children are from standard 1 to 10th, and we believe that anyone who does not know computers is not fit for most of the jobs or even interacting with Government services etc., so it is not that by learning computers they would get employed. But by not learning computers they would be not eligible for most of the jobs. Computer Literacy like English, Hindi, Mathematics has become a basic and a must requirement while starting the career.It will ensure their inclusion. Bridging the digital divide.
