In the dark and dingy alleys of red light areas, injustice, pain and suffering run rampant. And the worst affected are the children who grow up in red-light areas and are subjected to constant abuse and violence. “The sight of a 12-year-old girl being gang-raped by a group of men near a house l haunts me to this date. I was filled with anguish and resolved to do something,” says Girish Kulkarni who has made it his life’s mission to rescue children from red light areas and give them a safe and secure childhood. In the last 3 decades Girish has saved over 1100 girls from a life of abuse in red-light areas, giving them a loving home, education and medical care. He has further supported over 20,000 children with a better life.Sadly, Of the 250 the children rescued from abuse and exploitation, around 70 of them are HIV positive. I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. Gradually more and more mothers started coming to me and asked me to take their children away, even if it was just for a couple of hours,” he further adds.The work that Girish started in his youth gradually grew to become a movement, with many more joining his cause. Chest and General hospital Hyderabad. 33 patient monitors were given to 2 hospitals, 1 high flow cannula in one hospital, 6 patients monitors in one hospital and 1ultrasound machine and Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Analyser given to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore.Towards sanitation; 2022 garbage bags and 180 rubber aprons were distributed in the villages of Pharma city, Shabad Mandal, Chandanvalle and Hayathabad, in Telangana.&nbsp; 9088 disposable bed-sheets hospitals in Haryana and Navi Mumbai, 5000 disposable pillows, 5 pedestal fans and 1453 buckets and mugs provided to hospitals in Navi Mumbai.&nbsp; Promoting Health infrastructure:&nbsp;3 ambulances with ventilators were provided at Telnagana &amp; 1 ambulance each in Navi Mumbai and Pune. 2 ICUs are in process of being completed in Rangareddy district – Telangana&nbsp;For our Police Forces&nbsp;•	1500 Hand Sanitizers handed over to PCMC Commissioner Office police, Pune•	5000 Face shield and 250 Nitrile Gloves - Non sterile handed over to Hadapsar area Traffic Police•	5000 Hand Sanitizers, 7500 Face shield and 600 Nitrile Gloves handed over to Commissioner Office Mumbai police&nbsp;•	1500 Hand Sanitizers, 2500 Face shield and 250 Nitrile Gloves handed over to Navi Mumbai police station Zone 1•	1500 Hand Sanitizers, 1000 hand soaps, 14000 Disposable 3 ply mask and 12500 disposable gloves handed over to DCP Zone 1, Navi Mumbai to be distributed to police stations across Navi Mumbai.•	10,000 Hand Sanitizers, 1, 00,000 Disposable 3 ply mask and 50,000 disposable gloves handed over to DCP in Bangalore to be distributed to police stations.&nbsp;•	The police isolation center was supported with 250 bed and mattresses, 500 bed sheets, 250 pillows, 200 pillow covers, 310 bedside tables, 150 big &amp; small buckets with mugs, 80 small dustbins &amp; 20 big dustbins, 200 chairs, 1000 soaps, 10 office cupboards, 5 pulse oximeter, 500 thermos, 4 infra-red thermometers.&nbsp;•	2000 N 95 masks, and 50000 gloves were provided to the traffic police (south district) in Delhi; 355 N 95 and 355 PPE kits were provided to the police in Delhi Medical and Ration Support to the community&nbsp; •	In Pune 658&nbsp;differently abled beneficiaries and their families supported with&nbsp;ration•	32000 clothe masks were provided to 7650 underprivileged families in Pune and Mumbai•	2400 children were supported with medical kits consisting&nbsp;disposable masks, washing and bathing soaps, handkerchief, toothbrush and tooth paste in Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad&nbsp;•	Ration was provided to 6275 families across 7 cities in India.•	Ration support provided to 173 families of the girls under sponsorship for 2 months, 30 families with disability, 200 sex workers, 60 families living in nearby tribal area and 120 destitute children living in an institution at Bangalore•	150 daily wage earners provided support in Delhi (Badarpur), 130 scholarship students supported, 170 underprivileged families supported at Noida•	625 underprivileged families supported in Kolkatta.&nbsp;&nbsp;•	300 transgender supported at Chennai with ration support•	In Pune 1377 underprivileged families, 120 children and 700 sex workers supported with&nbsp;ration•	At Mumbai, 45 differently abled families, 45 marginalised families, 1100 underprivileged families at nearby rural areas of Kalyan and 1500 families at Dharavi, L Ward and Mira Bhayander provided with ration support.&nbsp;•	At Hyderabad, 150 differently abled children, 49 destitute girls living in shelter home, 270 street children and 264 elderly people living in old age home provided with ration and essential support.&nbsp; The fight is on-going and we have been working with the hospitals, ambulances, communities and police to collate requirements across cities where we work in.&nbsp;With the numbers growing every day, the only way to sustain our efforts is if YOU join and help us battle on. Acceptance and inclusion of the differently abled individuals remain a problem in the society we live in. The societal rejection and isolation faced by them and their families is increasingly difficult especially when they come from marginalized sections of the society. This leads to significantly higher levels of stress and anxiety among them. Individuals with disabilities or impairments have limitations and rarely get an opportunity to exhibit their talents.Our initiative offers recognition, inclusivity and provides equal opportunity for these individuals to showcase their talent while being a part of this fun activity. 
 Splash is an art event to recognize and empower the differently abled individuals. Last year with the pandemic and subsequent lock down we introduced an online version of Splash, which was very well received by the participants.  This year we have reverted back to our original format of a physical event and will be taking individuals to the CSMVS Museum, Mumbai, and introducing them to the world of art and culture with a guided session of special educators. Gratification and recognition will be an important part of the event to encourage each individual to pursue their creative ability further.

Splash - An art  initiative from Concern India Foundation for the differently-abled

Concern India Foundation works towards helping people help themselves by making the disadvantagedself-reliant and enabling them to lead a life of dignity. Our support to educational initiatives impacted15,631 children and 21288 youth. Our work has impacted in prevention of child labour, child marriagesand providing educational opportunities to children across India.Our support includes a school for special children, a home for orphan girl children and educationalopportunities for children from marginalised backgrounds. 
 In order to support these educational initiatives different activities are carried out like training specialchildren to develop their self-help skills, academic skills, social skills and pre-vocational skills.Children in marginalised schools are given opportunities in extracurricular activities, like theatre, dance,arts &amp; crafts and sports to develop their over-all personality. 
 Our initiatives impact 5 schools were 1260 children are given an opportunity for their holisticdevelopment in academics as well as extra-curricular activities.Our special school reaches 150 special children and develops in skills in self-help and academics whichhelps to be independent.

Educational Initiatives

COVID-19 has set us all back in countless ways. But for the youths in crisis all across the world, it’s done more than just set them back. Unemployment is one of the biggest challenges plaguing the Indian economy, and it has now become essential to hasten efforts to tap the potential of the youth and measure the employability skills efficiently. Support and help to educate and enhance the skills of urban poor youth to help them generate livelihoods for themselves.  
 Concern India Foundation works with youth from the less privileged background who due to social or economic reasons has to drop out of regular education. With neither concrete educational background nor any skills, they find it very difficult to find a respectable means of earning livelihood. Through this project Concern is empowering lives by identifying, mobilizing and enrolling target individual for the training, enhancing skills by quality training, enhancing livelihoods by assisting with job placement opportunities in the post-lock down job-market. The Project’s robust 5-tier model of skill development would reduce poverty and improve the economic conditions of urban poor community by generating livelihoods. 		 
 Our aim is to reach out to 40-50 youth in the age-group of 18-35 years belonging to economically weaker and urban poor families of Badarpur and its adjoining localities.They will be trained through an extensive 5-tier model- right from beneficiary Identification to Post Placement follow up.Our goal is to enable them to get employment so, that they are able to contribute towards their family income.With your help in raising Rs. 6,41,025 we will be able to train 40-50 more young people to be financially independent and employable.Since 2015 we have extended employability to 70 per cent of the beneficiaries wherein from a zero income they are currently earning an average salary of 11,500/ month. The programme has ensured a high attendance of 85% all through with very low drop-out rate, at 4 per cent. Students has been placed with reputed organizations.The first step has been taken, but we need your continued support to enable us to continue with our work with the same determination and passion.
