 Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation has been involved in providing referral services for the diagnosis, treatment and management of complications through 13 referral hospitals. Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation is facilitating early case detection through the engagement of civil society organizations in disseminating message in the community on early signs of leprosy and encourages patients to complete full course of treatment. Besides this Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation also facilitates an effective management of nerve damage to prevent disabilities. 
 A small proportion of persons affected by leprosy develop lack of sensation and sweating in their hands and feet. Such persons may develop wounds in their hands and feet due to dryness and injuries who need to practice self-care. every day to prevent worsening of disabilities and further damage of tissues. Self care is a simple procedure which includes soaking, cleaning, application of oil to prevent dryness, dressing and physiotherapy. Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation is facilitating self care practice through training of health workers, community volunteers &amp; family members.

Dalit and Adivasi women are particularly vulnerable to violence due to their low social and economic status. 
 This project helps train and network 12 grassroots women's rights organisations working across 5 states to work on issues affecting women. Your donation enables these organisations to come together and run 'violence against women' awareness campaigns in their regions. It provides extra resources and training for banners, posters, street plays, workshops, camps, and other activities to empower vulnerable women to stand up to violence. 
 In the long-term, Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation partner organizations are working to empower women and change attitudes in wider society. We have already seen reduced violence against women in some of the villages and slums we have been working in for more than 2 years. A grade 5 student’s literacy rate is extremely low, and they are unable to read a grade 2 level textbook.Therefore, with limited access to quality education, we see children between grades 5-8 discontinuing their education, and prioritising earning a livelihood to support their families. 
 Since 2016, Dr MChandrasekhar International Foundation has used technology to empower rural children. We connect passionate volunteers across the globe, with children from rural government schools across India, online.Our intervention is focused on children in grades 5-8, by delivering interactive sessions in the local medium, with the support of a powerful partner ecosystem.All to ensure that children from rural India have access to quality education and continue their education.Our goal is to continue to support these children, and reach out to more, so that no child has to drop out of school.

This project will bring emergency food rations to the poorest of the poor in Delhi, India to help them get through the Coronavirus epidemic and India's lock down. Millions of daily labourers, rickshaw wallahs, rag pickers and even beggars who depend on daily earnings to feed themselves and their families cannot now work. They need immediate help. Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation will distribute food parcels daily to Delhi most vulnerable communities. 
 By providing basic food supplies at well-managed distribution points, we are ensuring that families have enough to eat until this crisis is over and they are once again able to engage in India's vibrant informal economy. Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation will also use this opportunity to encourage social distancing and educate the community on hygiene and disease prevention at this critical time. 
 Hunger and disease lead to a cycle of despair. COVID Emergency Rations for India's Poorest

This project was initiated by Dr M Chandrasekhar who is working on ground in Delhi helping to set up makeshift hospitals in cooperation with the city andministration (NDMC) and a local NGO (Project Smiles Trust) together with Kavitha., Christin H. and Shabir W. from Chennai in India https://socialavtivities.inIndia is currently battling a dangerous and highly infectious second wave of the corona virus with close to 19 million confirmed cases and a death toll of 2,09,581 as of April 30, 2021. 
 Several cities in India are witnessing record numbers of cases on a daily basis. On April 30, Delhi saw a single day spike of almost 27,000 cases. With nearly 260,000 active cases, Delhi has become the district with the highest active caseload in the country.These record spikes have led to overcrowded hospitals and a severe shortage of supplies (including oxygen cylinders and oxygen concentrators). Hospitals have been struggling to meet the demand for oxygen and in several cases have turned away patients who were in critical condition resulting in a record number of deaths as people wait for admissions outside hospitals or try to find help elsewhere. 
 In the midst of this crisis, we are working with the local NGO Project Smile Trust and the city’s municipal administration to convert multiple buildings into primary care centers. These centers will cater to patients with mild symptoms of covid19 who may require oxygen support and try to save the lives of those waiting for hospitalisation. Emergence Food Relief Campaign for Daily Wage Earners

Responding to the second wave of COVID – 19 in India with setting up makeshift COVID facilities, supporting frontline workers with medical consumables &amp; PPE kits and raising awareness around COVID - 19 appropriate behavior 
 Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation has been working in India for 50 years, focusing on alleviating poverty and social exclusion among marginalised women and girls through 53 programmes on the ground, spanning 19 states and 90+districts. In 2019-20, we reached out to 50.4 million providing them with quality education, maternal and child health care services, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and relief and rehabilitation during natural disasters. Today we face an unprecedented crisis in India with the second wave of COVID-19 and Dr M Chandrasekhar International Foundation is on the ground responding with setting up COVID Care facilities, providing medical consumables including oxygen generators and PPE kits to Frontline workers. We are leveraging our experience of responding to over 30 natural disasters in the last decade.Saving lives is now our priority along side the development work which we continue to do among the community.Your support is needed TODAY! To save lives and change lives forever. 
 Sent 3,000 oxygen concentrators, 500 high-flow nasal cannulas, and 85 RT-PCR (COVID testing) machines, medical kits, and other equipment.Supporting the procurement and installation of 25 oxygen plants for hospitals and the installation of more than 70 thermal scanners at various ports of entry countrywide.With partners, we have procured special refrigerators as part of the cold-chain strengthening of the COVID-19 vaccine. Provided more than 11,000 PPE kits for functionaries working on India’s Childline so that childcare services can continue. Providing guidance and support for the safety and care of children in childcare institutions like care homes. Providing support to the government and partners to help children in 17 states continue learning from home. For example, ‘Mobile Learning Centres’ in Bihar are helping 28,000 children who did not have access to any type of digital equipment to continue learning. Working to counter vaccine misinformation and promote COVID Appropriate Behaviours (wearing masks, physical distancing, and handwashing), using multimedia content, produced weekly in multiple languages for broadcast on digital channels and media.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE

The funeral service providers are not just assisting families in making the arrangements, but in most cases, are also performing the rituals in the absence of family members. With the death toll from Covid-19 remaining above 300 for the past five days amid the continuing surge in cases, and in view of the restrictions on travel imposed by several countries, many families are unable to perform the last rites of their loved ones, and are instead relying on funeral organizers in the national capital to ensure that their dear ones get a decent farewell. 
 The funeral service providers are not just assisting families in making the arrangements, but in most cases, are also performing the rituals in the absence of family members.The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic across the county -- and the fourth wave in Delhi -- has turned out to be the deadliest one yet with over 25,000 people testing positive for the virus daily and nearly 300 persons dying every day over the past few days. On Sunday, Delhi recorded 350 deaths, while on Saturday it was 357, and on Friday, 348. The average number of Covid-19-related deaths, according to the state health bulletin, in the past week was 304. 
 Given the grave situation, the Indian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a non-binding advisory asking people to not go to India even if they are fully vaccinated. Apart from the US, the UK, Singapore and New Zealand have also imposed fresh restrictions on travellers from India or issued advisories against travelling to India following the massive spike in Covid-19 cases. Gulf countries Oman, Kuwait, the UAE and Iran, as well as Canada, have imposed restrictions on passengers arriving from India and will allow only citizens to enter. Several funeral organisers across the city said there has been a surge in the number of requests they are getting for services from people residing abroad or currently stuck in other cities. Officials at Messy funerals, a service provider in Civil Lines, said their phone has been ringing off the hook the past week.“Earlier we used to get hardly 50 calls a week for any sort of assistance. But these days, we are getting around 300 calls a day seeking help. We don’t have the resources to cater to all requests. After the landfall ended around midnight, the weather office downgraded the storm from 'extremely severe' to 'very severe'. It later said in a tweet that the cyclone was weakening further.In a relief to the people, the IMD, in its tweet after midnight, also announced that Cyclone Tauktae has weakened into a "very severe cyclonic storm" from the "extremely severe cyclonic storm"."The entire eye of the cyclone has now crossed the coast and lies over land. The rear sector of the eye is now entering the land" the IMD tweeted.Meanwhile, flight operations at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, halted for hours due to the cyclone, have been resumed. The cyclone triggered strong winds with the highest-ever speed of 114 kilometres per hour in Mumbai.At least six people were killed and several injured in Maharashtra as Cyclone Tauktae brushed past the state while eight people died in cyclone-affected coastal Karnataka.DRMCSIF has released a list of do's and dont's for cyclone Tauktae which is expected to hit the Indian West Coast on Tuesday. But there are a lot of other costs associated with attending school that aren’t considered during the budget allocation process. And many existing programs are underfunded. Many students are challenged by difficulties like finding transportation, learning English, and affording school supplies. Mission Education Programme

High poverty levels, unemployment, HIV/AIDS and poor governance are Delhi key development challenges. The target project areas, Chennai and South india in Central province of Delhi were once characterized by mining, textiles and railway industries as major economic activity for many years. Unfortunately, these companies were liquidated in the early 1990's leaving a huge number of people without gainful employment leading to increased poverty of urbanites and proximal rural communities. These affected communities moved to the rural areas and are now surviving on subsistence agriculture. In the face of these socio-economic hardships, these Smallholder farm families are facing persistent food and income insecurity exacerbated by poor extension services, shortage of agricultural inputs, poor marketing linkages, deteriorating environment due to deforestation and an increase in the spread of HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS has contributed to family labor constraints, increased number of women–headed households (mostly widows), orphans and vulnerable people with limited adaptive and coping strategies. 
 This project will provide high quality inputs and training to improve agricultural production. The action also introduces livestock farming in target communities to diversify production and income and further increase resilience to shocks. The action emphasizes the community as the focus of the intervention and thus will work with community leaders to transform attitudes and promote a new mind-set of empowerment.As a result of Dr MCSIF work with these communities, the project participants will receive Heifer value-based training for sustainable agriculture development to improve food security, participants will become more resilient in terms of diversifies income-generating opportunities, improved animal health management and productivity, increased crop and vegetables production from their land. Women will be empowered to take on leadership and management of their activities and to change negative cultural attitudes to women and girls so that gender equity is enhanced. Further, the training and awareness raising programs will significantly increase knowledge in environmental management and HIV/AIDS mitigation in all target communities.Dr MCSIF will implement this project in collaboration with its major partners in the Central province which include: the government Ministry of Agriculture &amp; Cooperatives, Dr MCSIF National Farmers Union, Ministry of Health, Community Development &amp; Social Welfare and other private service providers to promote enterprise development for smallholder farmers.Overtime, this project will have a multiplier effect on the community through the ‘passing on the gift’ of animals and practical skills and knowledge in integrated agriculture development.https://socialactivities.in

And we were able to fill the gap by raising ₹28+ lakhs through this mission and helped those who were risking their lives to save ours.The record increase of COVID positive patients and fatalities per day, lack of life-saving equipment like oxygen cylinders and concentrators, ventilators and Bipaps is crippling our healthcare infrastructure. Oxygen supply - the need of the hourThe image of many patient families crying and crowding outside hospitals desperate to get urgent medical help for their kith and kin is etched in our memories. Thousands have lost their loved ones to this growing crisis. There is a&nbsp;critical and immediate need for oxygen in hospitals and COVID Care Centres&nbsp;that our NGOs across the country have been registering with us. In response to this, we are relaunching our health mission to support critical patients by: Providing oxygen: <ul><li>By setting up&nbsp;oxygen generation plants&nbsp;in hospitals/COVID facility compounds in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Patna. A 5,000-litre capacity plant costs ₹6cr and can support 650 people per day.</li><li>By providing&nbsp;oxygen concentrators&nbsp;which use oxygen from the air and convert it to medical grade oxygen. A patient in need of a concentrator needs to be on it for 5-7 days. One oxygen concentrator costs in the range of ₹55,000 - ₹60,000.</li><li>By providing&nbsp;oxygen cylinders&nbsp;that help a person in need of oxygen support for 5-7 days. The B-type (1,500L) oxygen cylinder costs ₹15,000 while the D-type (6,000L) costs ₹25,000.</li><li>By&nbsp;refilling oxygen cylinders,&nbsp;as manufacture is restricted to certain states and transporting oxygen cylinders from one state to another requires specific vehicles which are not very widely available in the given situation. Refilling A B-type cylinder costs ₹800/refill and D-type costs ₹2,500/refill.</li></ul>
