“The abusers insert a candle or fingers in the vagina of children torture them. If the children don’t relent even then, the abusers put chilli powder so that children will say “yes” because of the burning of the skin… There are teeth marks on their bodies, and their vaginal parts are burnt. When children stay in these conditions, it is painful even to hear,” says Lalitha SA of the Society for Participatory Integrated Development (SPID), while talking about many heart-rending stories of trafficked children in red-light areas. In over three decades, the team of SPID led by Lalitha, has saved over 3000 children from the red-light areas in Delhi, such as GB Road, and many from clutches of sex trafficking. There is significant participation of women studying and teaching science in schools and undergraduate colleges. However, the scenario is not similar when it comes down to their involvement in pursuing scientific research as a career. Only 15-20% of women with a Ph.D further pursue their careers in science. The involvement of women is even lower with institutions of high reputation. Although Indian women are not perceived incapable of pursuing science and engineering, their representation in these fields is low. Currently, only 14.7% of the R&amp;D personnel in India are women. Many girls from poor backgrounds with a passion for science are unable to pursue it for graduation due to a lack of support and monetary constraints. 
 To encourage more women in Research and Development in Basic/Natural Sciences•      To promote and encourage more talented women to take up higher education in the field of Sciences•      To provide mentorship to guide them to pursue a career in scientific research.  
 The direct impact will be on the meritorious girls from different backgrounds who will receive financial help and guidance from us. Eventually, this will lead to more meritorious women pursuing careers in science especially research.
