The socio economical status of rural farmers of Usilampatti region is pathetic and unstable. In adequate rainfall, poor water storage systems, increasing cost of inputs and poor or inadequate profit in the agricultural production are the major issues prevails among the farming community. Majority of the lands are under rainfed where only pulses and millets are cultivated. The usage of chemicals fertilizers for agricultural production damages the produces and thus the health of the rural farmers by consuming the same. The agricultural production is being reduced year by year and fertile land becomes unfertile due to the poor or non-availability of micro organism in the soil by continuos usage of chemical fertilizers. Many new diseases like Diabetic, heart disorder, Skin allergy, Kidney and Liver affects the over all health of these rural community. The exposure about of the elder’s knowledge on environmental protection, traditional health practices like Siddha, Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Acupunture are not reaching to the younger generation properly. These situations affect the overall socio-economical status of the rural community but little more on women and girl children. The women are forced to involve in household work along with farming activitiy to earn for the family. Many girl children are forced to drop-out from the schools and go for unskilled labour work to meet out the family needs. 
 EARTH Trust wanted to improve the overall socio-economical, environmental and health status of the rural farming community by way of organising farmers self help groups, providing awareness and capacity building programs, supporting for livelihoods and establish farmer producer companies to root out all issues by getting government and non-government support.Environmental promotion works like tree plantation, health education, toilet construction, organic/natural farming including cattle rearing, integrated farming, establishing water harvesting systems, beekeeping, preparation of organic fertilizer &amp; pesticides and exposure visits will be organised. Promote Indian Traditional Medicines like Siddha, Yoga, Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Acupunture through health camps and train people to prepare Home Remedies through herbal kitchen garden for healthy life.Prevention of all violence against women including female infanticide, Family Counseling and Legal Assistance, Non-formal education, Educational support to girls’ higher education, Skill trainings to improve knowledge on self employment and earn decent income and Livelihood support for vulnerables and only girl child families will be ensured.

Health and Sanitation of Rural Poor and elderly people will be improved.</li><li>Agriculture production will be increased and agriculture becomes a profitable business.</li><li>Organic agriculture, integrated farming will improve employment opportunities.</li><li>Water harvesting systems will fulfill the need for both human conception and irrigation.</li><li>Existing government departments, agricultural college and universities will reach to the villages for increase agricultural production.</li><li>The growing number of cattle population will take the community towards sustainable and organic agriculture. </li><li>The involvement of youth in the Indian medicine practice will reduce the health care expenses drastically and improve the overall health care.</li><li>The farmers will improve their skills through various trainings and exposure visits on animal husbandry, beekeeping, organic agriculture, value added of agricultural products etc.,</li><li>The farmer’s specific problems related to the cultivation, procurement, pest control and marketing will be addressed through Farmer Producer Company.</li><li>Opportunities for Girl’s education and employment will be increased.</li><li>Young generation will recognize and give respects to the women community.</li><li>The community monitoring system will develop a sustainability of the project. </li></ol>

Since they have enough knowledge in goat rearing they will rear the goat upto 3 to 5 months and sell for good profit, inturn they can able to purchase new goats within the profit and continue to have the asset for a longer time.

Women in India still face economic and social discrimination, be it at work or at home. They generally do not enjoy the same social status as men, and are often the victims of violence. The vicious cycle of suppression of women starts very early ‑ right from the fetus days. Thanks to the scientific methods of early detection of sex of the fetus, female infanticide is very rampant in our target area.  
 We identify the pregnant mothers who have already a girl child, start educating the importance of girl children, counseling health check-ups through house visits and group meetings. We create awareness and self confident among parents and make them accept the birth of girl child.  EARTH Trust will organise Medical Camp enable to treat and provide counseling, medicine for 50 elderly people with qualified medical practitioner. People will be treated with Acupuncture, Siddha and Electrohomeopathy and provided remedies for fever, cough, throat infection, ulcer, itching, knee pain, eye defects, kidney disease and digestive problems.
