I had even seen my friend’s 15-year-old sister and 70-year-old grandmother being forced to do sex work for the price of a cup of tea”, recalls Girish. “I started by merely feeding and teaching children of sex workers initially with the intention of giving them some respite from the horrors of life of abuse in red-light areas. “I saw a girl, barely 7 or 8, being pushed into flesh trade. Her cries for help still echo in my ears. There were men as old as 60 r*ping the innocent child. Globally more than 350 million pairs of shoes are discarded while 1.2 billion people do not have footwear. As athletes, Shriyans Bhandari and Ramesh Dhami ran hundreds of kilometres every year. They also ran through at least three to four pairs of sport shoes every year. The soles were in good condition but the shoe sides tore within months. The duo always wondered if they could find some use for the intact soles of these quality sport shoes. A bit of research led to the idea of refurbishing them into trendy slippers. That brainwave eventually spawned an eco-friendly enterprise that reuses shoe soles and is appropriately named Greensole. 
 At Greensole, we give discarded shoes a second life by refurbishing them to comfortable footwear and providing them to the people in need, contributing to environmental good, by keeping non-biodegradable shoes out of landfills, social good, by giving basic necessity of footwear to the people in need and protecting them from diseases contracted through unprotected feet, and economic good, by giving employment to refurbish shoes.We have received appreciation letters from Sir Ratan Tata and former President Barack Obama and have been featured in over 100 media channels including the Vogue Magazine, BBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, among others. 
 Our current corporate partners include JLL, Just Dial, India Bulls, Goqii, L&T, Canon, Crocs, Rolls-Royce, Axis Bank,and Tata Group whereby they are sponsoring refurbishment of discarded shoes to comfortable footwear. Through such collaboration have already helped 50,000 children across India. The footwear apart from being recycled helps the children walk to schools from long distances and prevents them from life threatening diseases contracted through unprotected feet. We have also set us 50 collection centers across India and are coming up with 2 skill development centers where people from marginalized backgrounds would be given vocational skills in making footwear.
