In a world where animals are too often seen only as commodities to be bought and sold, Govardhan Eco Village stands as an exemplary exception. Our NGO partner is a sanctuary for cows, bulls and many other animals. They find not just shelter but a true home. At ISKCON's Govardhan Eco Village, every life is sacred and deserving of love, care, and respect. Here, animals are embraced instead of being seen as a burden. The dedicated and compassionate team truly believes they deserve a life of dignity too. However, the NGO depends on public support to provide the best care to animals. Sustaining this refuge of compassion requires resources for food, housing, medical care, and the dedicated hands that make it all possible. Your support can help ensure that no animal under this roof ever experiences fear or deprivation. Unburdened by the demands of milking cycles, they graze contentedly, forming close bonds with the caretakers who tend to their every need. Through this work, the NGO and its team strives to show the world that true service is not about what one takes from nature but what one gives back.“At Govardhan Eco Village, we don’t ask how gaumata (cows) can benefit us. We ask how we can keep gaumata happy,” says Gaurang Das, renowned spiritual leader and ISKCON Governing Body member. And it’s not just cows that this NGO serves. When a racehorse’s racing days are over, its value in the eyes of the industry vanishes, and they are painfully put out. Govardhan Eco Village has become a home for many of these majestic creatures who would have otherwise met a sad end. Here horses roam freely across lush pastures, a life without the constant abuse. With expert veterinary care, balanced nutrition, and gentle rehabilitation, each horse learns to trust again and to thrive in a peaceful environment.Male calves born on dairy farms often face immediate culling or abandonment simply because they cannot produce milk. At Govardhan Eco Village, they welcome them with open arms. Instead of a cruel fate, these young bulls grow up surrounded by affection, safe from harm and provided with the highest quality feed and medical attention. As they mature, they become symbols of hope, reminding us that every living being has intrinsic worth.Give the gift of life and love to those who cannot ask for it in words. “When I see a monkey lying on the roadside, abused by people or bleeding after getting electrocuted, I feel their pain as if it were my own. They scream not just in agony, but in fear that they might be beaten up again,” says Hari Kishan Mangle, founder of Guardian of Angels, an NGO devoted to rescuing and treating injured and abused monkeys.Hari spent everything to set up a rescue and rehabilitation centre equipped to treat animals but his own efforts could take him only this far. He is in urgent need of support to continue providing urgent medical care to monkeys and other animals. Your donation can mean life for an animal. Some tremble so much from fear they won’t even touch food,” says Hari Kishan. At Guardian of Angels, every rescue is a race against time. The team rushes to the spot, stabilises the monkey with emergency care, and brings them to the centre for treatment. Trained veterinarians clean wounds, perform surgeries, and nurse them back to health. “Watching a monkey who couldn’t move begin to climb again after weeks of treatment, that’s what keeps us going,” Hari Kishan shares. From fear to freedomMany monkeys that reach Guardian of Angels have endured unimaginable cruelty, chained for years, burned, or beaten for amusement. “When they first arrive, their eyes are full of pain and distrust,” says Hari Kishan. “But with time, care, and love, those same eyes begin to soften. They start to trust again.”Once recovered, the team ensures the monkeys are safely released back, far from the dangers of roads and electric lines. For those who can never return, the centre becomes their permanent home, where they can play, rest, and live without fear. Why your help is urgently neededRescuing and healing an injured monkey takes days of intensive care and resources, from medicines and surgeries to food and shelter. With calls for help increasing every week, Guardian of Angels struggles to meet the growing cost of care. “Every life matters. Every year thousands of birds get injured due to kites flying by glass-coated Manja. This traditional festivity proves fatal for thousands of innocent flying creatures that get injured by Glass-Coated threads that cut and entangle to cause fractures, wing cuts and nerve injuries and even glass pieces embedded in their bodies. With more kites competing for space with birds, the number of injuries has risen over the years. What makes matter worse is that people continue to use dangerous strings, totally disregarding the harm they cause to the birds.
Conservation and protection of different species of birds by rescue and rehabilitation and by generating awareness in local people help reduce mortality of birds during the forth-coming kite-flying festival. The Festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated in the month of January; we are planning to start this project as soon as possible so that we can rescue birds during winter vacations of school students and educate some people in these outer regions to reduce the use of glass-coated manjha. This year we will set up our main base in the Vaishali Nagar area which can cover South Jaipur, a team of doctors with all modern equipment will be placed here, a moving hospital will be at Vidhyadhar Nagar (North) and Chandlai Lake (South-East). These moving hospitals will be equipped with emergency and first aid kits with one veterinarian and 2 rescuers. After first aid and stabilizing the injured bird, it will be transferred to the Base in Vaishali.
During the Kite flying festival, many migratory birds come to Jaipur, these birds get injured by glass-coated manjha and many of these injured birds do not survive. During this time many raptors also get injured and die. This affects our enriched biodiversity and ecosystem. This year we are planning to save more than 100 wild birds. By saving these wild birds we are trying to help save and conserve the ecosystem.
