For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Its been 203 days since the lowdown was announced by Government of India to prevent Covid-19 pandemic from spreading and it has been close to the same number of days that the schools have been closed. Our lives transformed and had to adopt a lifestyle that will prevent us from getting infected by Covid-19. This new lifestyle has also increased focus on sanitization, hand washing, social distancing and work from home culture. With new SOPs coming into play, it has also paved way for digital technology to come in the forefront in every aspect of our life and a similar digital transformation in the education sector as well. Online lessons emerged as the go-to solution for schools. HOPE School also adopted e- learning platform to start engaging and teaching the students from May’2020. ·       Teachers are engaging the students by adopting different strategies such as making videos and sharing them with the students through WhatsApp, YouTube etc. sending assignments and worksheets to assess whether the students have understood the concepts well. Oral activities are helping students to recite concepts well and understand as well. Parents are appreciated for helping their children by giving their phones, making sure they complete the assignments &amp; activities and ensure they submit them on time.·Students are being engaged in doing creative craft work using coconut shells, vegetables, wheat flour etc. Different subject-based activities are also being conducted for continued learning.    The students that come to are school belong to slum community and there are enough opportunities for these children to get distracted from studies however because of the online classes we are proud to say that we are connected with 98% of students from 1st to 10th Std. through whats app, button phones, cell phones, smart phones etc. Teachers have adopted different teaching strategies to connect with the students and ensure the students understand the concepts well and are engaged in a meaningful way.

Despite significant economic progress in the past decade, India is a home to 25% of the world’s hungry poor. Hunger primarily affects the most disadvantaged people, such as poor communities, women, and children, but of all orphans are the most vulnerable. They fall victim to hunger-related illnesses and thus fail to develop mentally and physically. Besides this, the COVID-19 pandemic has also disproportionately hit the underprivileged and orphan children in India. The health of these children has come at risk. They need food, clean clothing, as well as access to education which will help them improve their chances of growing up to be healthy adults and contributing citizens of society. Orphans need a secure environment to develop. Caring for orphans and providing them nutrition will improve their immune system, helps them fight off disease, focus on studies and lead healthy life. 
 Since 2001, HOPE foundation has provided a safe abode to disadvantaged children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, children abandoned by one or both parents, street children and children who have been abused. HOPE foundation has helped over 500+ such beneficiaries in past years. Currently HOPE foundation gives care to 80+ beneficiaries in 3 homes in South India (Acharapakkam near Chennai, Trichy &amp; Tirunelveli). HOPE foundation provides them safe shelter, education, healthcare, nutrition, counselling etc., for their well being and provides them with wings to scale heights. HOPE foundation focuses on the physical, mental and spiritual well being of the children and helps them to get integrated into the society as healthy adults. 
 HOPE foundation has provided a safe and secure shelter for the 80+ beneficiaries residing in the three homes/. Continue to provide them proper nutritional support so that they grow up to be healthy individuals. Help develop their immune system to fight disease. Maintain their CD 4 counts. Help children to grow, develop and thrive to their full potential.

There are around 50,000 + children living in the Kannaginagar slum Rehabilitation colony. The parents of these children work as laborers and earn between Rs. 7000/- to Rs.10000/- a month which is hardly sufficient to take care of the food expenses. Due to the low income, the parents are unable to cater to the essential needs such as safety, nutritional food, education etc. to name a few. The children are growing up in poverty, indiscipline, abuse, and violence as familiar faces. Weighed down by the burdens of life, the parents think that education is a luxury which cannot be afforded. Hence, the children end up being deprived of basic education. About 40% of the children who go to neighboring government schools, go to school for the sake of going, and as they get into high school the dropout rate increases. Besides, the crime, violence and regular fights in the community is so high that children end up being influenced it. 
 HOPE foundation runs the HOPE Foundation Matriculation School, which is a free English medium school situated right in the heart of the Kannaginagar Slum Resettlement Colony, Chennai. The School provides continued quality education to 430+ students enrolled in the school so that the students progress to become gainfully employed citizens of country. The school also develops the competencies of the students and builds their confidence in order  to perform well and excel in their studies and lives. HOPE school has  adopted different teaching strategies such as think pair share, open ended questions, effective questioning, problem-based learning etc which  provide opportunities for students to think and come up with solutions for real world problems. HOPE School has also appointed a child counselling who provides psycho social support to the students and also teaches soft skills for middle and high school students. HOPE school has also introduced vocational skills like IT, computer hardware, for the middle and high school students and provides career guidance to the students. The mission of HOPE School is to educate and train the students in 21st century skills that would not only build their academic competence but also equip them with sustainable skills that will help them face problems when exposed to real life challenges. 
 -Increased academic excellence of the students-Increased awareness, knowledge and skills of the students in STEM subjects and 21st Century digital skills.-Positive changes in the behavior of the students.-Changes in the individual capacities of the students to think and come up with solutions for real world problems.-Increased participation of students in sports related activities.

During their night watch, the railway guards heard a cry from the bushes near the railway track. To their surprise, they found an abandoned newborn behind the bush. They immediately helped the baby with medical care and then brought the baby to Hope foundation's Asharan Orphanage for further the care and protection. Many children are being abandoned and lost on the Delhi streets. If they are not found on time and moved to a safe shelter or a hospital immediately, they may overcome by sepsis, hypothermia, stray animals or abusers. Our mission is to protect the children from the dangers of being ended up on the street 
 HOPE foundation runs a children’s home in the name of ‘Asharan orphanage’ at A-46, New Multan Nagar, Surya Enclave, Delhi – 56, India. It is a home for the abandoned and lost children between the ages of 0 to 6 years. It is licensed under the JJ Act 2015 by the Government Department of Women &amp; Children Development. We provide the children with round-the-clock residential care, protection, education, opportunities to heal emotionally and physically, etc, They are given medical care that includes preventive and curative care.Infants and children come with a lot of needs due to immaturity, undernourishment, infections, and physical &amp; emotional trauma. Few of them are with special needs like cerebral palsy and developmental delay, Cancer, or HIV. The care staff work on different shifts, to provide round-the-clock care to the children. They are aided by two nurses and a visiting pediatric consultant, and therapists. 
 Asharan has cared for 740 children since 1997. From among them, we have helped 352 lost children to be reunited with their families. 213 orphan children were rehabilitated through adoption as per the CARA guidelines. Through Asharan orphanage, we would like to care for more young children who are in need of care and protection and provide them with a safe, healthy and happy childhood and rehabilitate them.
