For a mother who has spent her entire life loving and raising her child, being beaten and mercilessly thrown out onto the streets by her own son is too heartbreaking to overcome. But this is a common story among the elderly residents of the Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram. “I’ve seen mothers in old and torn clothes, their bodies smelling and their hands and feet rotting and covered in maggots,” shares Dr. G.P. Bhagat, founder of the ashram. These abandoned elderly men and women lay starving on the streets hoping for someone to rescue them from their suffering. The Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram has a dedicated rescue team that saves the elderly from the streets and gives them immediate medical care upon their arrival at the home. To tend to the multiple health complications of the seniors, the home has a medical facility with doctors and nurses, a physiotherapy unit, a pathology lab, a digital X-ray monitoring machine and a pharmacy to provide 24-hour care to older adults anytime they require assistance, even during emergencies. After undergoing years of medical treatment and therapy at Ashadeep, Preeti has seen substantial recovery. She feels glad to have finally found a safe home.Dr Anjana Goswami along with her husband Mukul, started Ashadeep Day Rehabilitation Centre four decades back and since then, the couple have rescued over 1,200 mentally ill homeless from the streets. Without a safe shelter, they are subjected to constant sexual abuse on the streets,” shares Dr Anjana while shedding light on the extreme difficulties faced by homeless mentally ill patients. PRIDE thru Educon

Currently Educon is supporting 5 BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) students from rural areas near Pune Maharashtra. They are coming from a very poor financial background (families of farmers with very small piece of land, or construction workers) but are brilliant. These students got high marks in PAN India medical entrance exam and got admission through central admission process in government colleges which is commendable. These students come from a very poor background; some of them do not have both parents. The family income ranges from Rs. 3000/Mth to Rs. 7000/ Mth ($39/Mth to $99/Mth). Some of these students have siblings also who are studying which makes it very difficult for the families of the students to support their education. Educon have been supporting these students for a year now, for this year, they need new medical instruments and books which are very costly therefore Educon appeals through this platform to you to generously contribute for the noble cause of education of rural students. One of the great things about donating to Educon is that your money will directly go to students, we have minimal to zero cost on administrative and other costs. 
 Educon have been supporting these students for more than a year for the lodging, boarding, books etc. through the regular funds collected from the regular donors; while government takes care of their education fees (They are under EBC (Economically Backward Class) category). This year these students need more money as they have to purchase books and medical instrument which are very costly; therefore, we are raising the fund through this platform and appeal to larger community to help. 
 We are trying to support these students for their education so that the standard of life for their families can be improved. Also, these students are coming from Rural areas they will serve the rural areas after completion of their education. This will help to improve on the medical services in the rural areas (one of the problem India is facing currently is that the rural areas are not staffed enough for medical and healthcare).
