Stray dogs and other animals on the streets live a life of acute deprivation. The most painful part is the manner in which they meet their end–lonely and helpless. While some may sustain grave injuries after being run over by vehicles, others are at the risk of starvation and illness. Often, people ignore their plight as they are strays. But not Sudha Narayanan. It’s been almost a decade since Sudha decided to set up a hospital and shelter home for stray dogs and other animals. Sudha’s NGO Charlie’s Animal Rescue Centre (CARE), since its inception in 2013, has saved the lives of thousands of stray animals with urgent trauma care and medical help. Sudha has shouldered a significant amount of the cost of treatment for these animals for a decade. Sudha says, “People pour acid on stray dogs and cats. They are beaten, have their legs broken and even sexually abused…injured animals often receive no care or attention from people around them. They are forced to crawl into a ditch where they die a painful death unnoticed.”<img src="https://cfstatic.give.do/620bc0eb-ae3d-4df4-aa19-dc8ead2d215a.jpg" />CARE has taken up the responsibility of providing life-saving trauma care and medical intervention to the strays. The NGO’s rescue helpline receives numerous calls throughout the day. CARE’s team brings the rescued animals to its trauma care centre, where the sick and the injured are admitted and taken care of. With the help of proper medical care the animals are nursed back to health. The animals who are no longer fit to survive on their own due to serious injuries are kept in the NGO’s shelter home which is currently home to over 150 stray animals including dogs, cats, birds etc. The struggle to stay afloatWith their rescue helplines ringing off the hook and the number of helpless animals increasing with each passing day, CARE is finding it difficult to keep going. “The number of animals we save and shelter are increasing continuously. And if we don't get the support we require, unfortunately these animals will also be left without anybody to look after them. We need a huge amount of money for critical care medicines, for animal care items and for the essential food needed for the sick and injured animals. ForestsByHeartfulness - Creating MiniForests of Indigenous and Native Species Across India

Nilona dam was built 40 year ago in order to supply water to Yavatmal. Gradually, storage capacity got reduced due to large quantity of accumulated silt leading to reduction of water supply to Yavatmal. Afterwards, Prayas took a pledge and carried out desilting project starting from April to June 2015. Team of 50 volunteers at Prayas, Yavatmal worked hard and removed 35,000 trollies silt and were given free to farmers of surrounding villages in order to increase the fertility of their farms. 12,000 citizens had visited Nilona dam for Shramadan. Citizens of Yavatmal contributed Rs. 25 lakh and remaining Rs. 11.43 lakh were provided by government of India. 
 For 2016, target of removing 1 lakh trollies silt has been set and will be distributed to farmers of surrounding villages for no cost. The actual work of desilting has been started on 6th March. Till now, 500+ trollies have been desilted. Our aim is to remove around 1000-1200 trollies silt per day. We will be spreading awareness in Yavatmal about proper water usage along with tree plantation and catchment area treatment so as to reduce the silt accumulation in future. 
 Citizens of Yavatmal have already taken the ownership of the project. The government of India also came forward to work with Prayas on this project. This became the PPP project model, which can be replicated anywhere. The fertility of agricultural field will get improved by use of silt and followed by increasing the farm yield. Also, awareness about proper use and conservation of natural resources will increase. Through awareness programs we intend to sensitize the cause and work on building capacity of our volunteers.

It can be deforestation, pollution, soil erosion, etc., which needs to be addressed seriously.Billions of people depend on the environment for their livelihood. For example, over 1.5 billion people depend on forests for food, medicine, shelter and more. Farmers turn to the woods when their crops fail. Almost two billion people earn a living from agriculture, and the other three billion people are on the ocean.ur environment provides us with enormous benefits which we can’t repay in our entire life span. The environment includes animals, water, trees, forest and air. Trees and forests filter the air and take in harmful gases, and plants purify the water, maintain natural balance and many others.  The environment keeps a regular check on its functioning as it helps regulate the vital systems essential for the ecosystem. It also helps in maintaining culture and quality of life on Earth. The environment regulates natural cycles that occur daily. These natural cycles balance living things and the environment. If we disturb these natural cycles, it will ultimately affect humans and other living beings.  For thousands of years, the environment helped humans, animals, and plants flourish and grow. It also provides us with fertile land, air, livestock, water and essential things for survival.

Janhit Vikas Samiti (JVS), Nawada was established in 1985 on 11th October on the birthday of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan by a group of persons having a keen interest in the socio-economic transformation of the state.
